Putting together a new system for my car.. Any Help would be greatly a

Recommended Posts

Hello Crecendo Audio community I am looking to upgrade my speakers in my 2011 NIssan Altima S... I have already purchased a Pioneer AVH-X5500BHS Dvd Head unit and will be installing it soon.. Im pretty sure this unit will have enough settings to configure the speakers properly.. I believe the car has 6 speakers because it is a "S Model".  I have read a few different websights on the accual size of the speakers and I believe they are as follows... Front Dash are 3.5"... Front door are 6.5" and the Back Top of Trunk are 6x9's (however I have hurd theyr will acomidate a 6.5" as well)

Alot has changed with car adudio in the last 10 years and I'm more a computer and home theater geek but I love my music to sound good, clean and clear. I relly want to do this system the right way so with that said I have a bunch of questions before make my purchase...

- Will the FT1 Super Tweeters fit in the dash of my car and if not can i purchase a bracket that allow it to? (also fell free to let me know if this is bad sonic location for these speaker they are located on the dash, in the corner near the windshield?)

- I like the idea of useing the PWX 6.5" mid range speakers in the doors as long as I can use the super tweakers in the dash. let me know what you think?

- As for 6x9s in the back I like the idea of useing a 6.5" here as long as they will fit, I also want something just a little more powerfull in the back that can handle a littl bit of bass.. would the CZ Series 6.5" 2 Way be a good choice here...

Also if anyone with knowldege of proper installation and configuration of something like this plz feel free to post im not sure about  crossover and also feel free to suggest any othe componets i may be missing.. as for an amp going to wait on that for a little while... thanks in advance and Iook forward to reading up on any suggetions an or comments...

Take off the door panels and other panels on your vehicle to figure out the true size of the speakers. Never trust what someone else has posted. The tweets would be optimal on the pillars on each side of the door but you can keep them there (dash mounting). Measure the cut outs for the tweets in the dash and then check size provided by crescendo.

Take a step back. Why do you want to use super tweeters? Your goals are "clean and sound good," but generally super tweeters are used for their high output--not frequency response.

Passive = inline crossover network.

Active = processing unit that splits the signals before they get to the amp.

IE: any component set uses inline crossover networks between the amp and the speakers to split the signals between tweeter and mid.

IE: Active, at the headunit (needs to be an active capable headunit) or external processor splits the signal (can manually adjust crossover points, slopes, etc) from head-unit to amp, and then you run separate channels for each driver. channel 1 left tweet, channel 2 right tweet, channel 3 left mid, channel 4 right mid

You're missing my point. Why buy a dump truck for daily commuting?

Are you planning to add a sub. If so ditch the 6 x 9's

Active means usually means using a 4 channel and having the each separate speaker on its own channel. You set your own crossover points. With the passive your using a pre done crossover that comes with the comps.

agree ditch the 6x9s if you are adding a woofer. Those speakers are primarily bass drivers and won't be of much use if running a subwoofer.

Thanks for all the responses cant believe how fast you guys work here...  Ok now that i have a basic understanding of active and passive.. I'm pretty sure I will be going Active because I do believe the headunit I purchased has crossover setting for both HPF / LPF... I think this will most likely save me some money too... here is a link to the headunit I bought... http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Car/DVD-Receivers/AVH-X5500BHS...

As for the speakers near the trunk I do NOT want to put subs in the car I use my trunk for kid stuff, but I would like the rear speakers to be able to handel just a little bass nothing over the top.. also in the begining I will not be amping the speakers I will rely only on the headunit for the time being untill i have more money... thanks for the advise guys and keep the comment coming i do appreachate all of them.,..

That headunit is not capable of active processing.

Since you're limited on funds I'd go with a component set upfront, and an amp when you can afford it (think used amp). Only then would I consider replacing any speakers in the back.

When you replace the front speakers I'd sound deaden the doors as it'll make a big difference.

Ok so after doing some homework and with the help of your posts I have some new ideas... It turns out the dash speaker are 3.5" and I do believe they tied to the 6.5" door speakers almost in a componet type setup..  I will admit I really have no idea how their wired factory but the wireing harness for my nissan is only wired for 4 speakers.  So here is my idea I want to disconnect and remove the 3.5" dash speakers  and the 6.5" door speakers. and like  stefanhinote put a componet set in their place... I will have to run a speaker wire throught he door boot and up to through to the dash and i will also need a bracket to mout the tweeter but I think this is my best bet... I would take the advice and deaden the doors to avoid excess vibration....

So Im still not sure on what speakers to use I need a componet set that is good that is under 250, I like what people have to say about the cresendo speaker but Im not a bass head.. So any ideas would be great or if anyone thinks i can control the bass buy simply eqing the system thats fine too.. intrested to here what people think... thanks for helping this noob...lol
