Hey guys

Recommended Posts

New to the forums, lurked for awhile though lol. From chicago. Finally joined so i can get some suggestions on my next build. Currently i have a 2000 Impala with a set of PWX 6.5s in the doors ran by a MB Quart 100.4
I had a 10' ICON D1 till i messed it up. it was ran by a BD1500. I have knu 0 guage ran from the batt to the trunk and then 4 gauge audio technix for the amps. Have the doors deaden with 60mil from AT and a bit on the trunk. Current plans are swapping out the PWX for some RF pro mids. I have some vifa tweets i want to add on as well. As far as the ICON i am not sure what i can do with it. The issue i have is i was listening to it on the day i took the spare tire out to do some ground work back there. later that night the bass sounded wierd so i checked and the box had flip on top of the sub. So now the subs works only when i push it in. Any help on this is greatly appreciated. Once again thanks for having me!

Have you looked at the sub out of the box?

:WELCOME: to the forum!

Unfortunately it sounds as though you've driven the sub beyond it's mechanical limits and damaged the point there the tinsel leads are soldered onto the voice coil.  What kind of enclosure do you have it in and what are the specifications on it?  That's a Rockford Fosgate BD1500 correct?  If you had it in a ported enclosure that was tuned fairly high playing music with very low frequencies it could have very well unloaded in the enclosure.  Coupled with the fact that most Rockford amps have an SSF that is static, or non adjustable, unless you're tuned close to the frequency the SSF is set to it's not doing much to protect the sub from unloading.

Hate to hear such a nice sub is not working right.  Hopefully you can get the problem that caused it figured out and the sub reconed easily enough.

yes the BD1500 is correct. The box was 1.25ft^3 tuned to 32hz via an 11.5"x1.5" port

Absolutely, just select "yes" for the send sub in option. It isn't THAT hard to do it yourself, and if you need help we can help you through it.
