Cablguy184's 1949 Ford Tudor Sedan

My Stock Steelies were just too rusty to keep, So I got these wheels to go on there until I get to the point of installing some really cool Wheels and Tires on the old Ford ... Plans are to go with 18s on the front and 20s on the rear ...

Speedway sent me a bad headlight switch ... Sent it back today for a warranty replacement.

having a hard time deciding a place to install my dimmer switch ... Origional location is where the kick pannel enclosure sits ...

May go under the dash and work it by hand instead of foot control ...

That is one old standard I wish they'd go back to. Foot operated brights are aweomse and by far the best location IMO.

Reminds me of my '54 Bel-Air! Gotta love old Detroit steel. No stupid plastic clips to break. :P

Well for now, the high / low beam selector switch is disabled ... Beings I have no plans to actually drive this car, that switch would be in the way of the kick panel driver so I'm not going to use it ... I don't have any plans to install any windshield wipers either ...

Besides ... Those HID low beams are bad ass !!!

54 Bel-Air huh ... Nice !!!

Yea, we will have to fabricate everything as far as the interior goes ... Not sure how we are going to secure all those panels, not show any screws, and major prevention of any rattles ... Gonna have to use clips of some kind ...

Won't go far with only a 5 gallon fuel cell ...

Maybe later, but for now ... I only need it to be able to go on and off the trailer to different shops and events ...

No way brother. Leave the screw heads showing like they should be. Gotta love the utilitarian look.

I assume the interior trim already has the dimples where the screws are so wouldn't think you would need the back plate. Stainless steel screw's would look best IMO.

As far as what was in the car ... I wouldn't know. Most "useable" stuff was robbed for other projects.

But I will definately look into it ...

Good choice on the ViAir compressor. Those things are beasts. smile.png

Thanks Brother ... I actually have 2 compressors for it, a tank, and some other goodies I forgot to take pics of ...

Should be a fun project !!!

Finally !!! Finally !!! Finally !!! Some great weather this weekend !!! ... And no major "Honey Do" things planned !!!
Should be able to get my Brakes back together this weekend, Build me a battery bank enclosure for the trunk, and run some cable !!!

I am SO ready to get some work done to this car !!! This car is the ONLY plans I have for this weekend !!!

Also ... Thinking seriously about taking the entire front cap off and get them ready to go to my dad's shop for body work ...
I'm thinking that the radiator supports are connected to the frame and not the front cap like most cars ... may can temp fab something up to make it work ...

I would really like to have the front cap and door's body work done and primer'd in before it's first event ...

Yah, Yah, I know. This car should be playing music by now. But has been put on hold for a while.

Well if nothing goes wrong, She will be going into the body shop this weekend for some work.

Anyhow, Got some goodies in from my good friend Mike from Hyper Lights !!!

like I told him with the headlights, I wanted something you would not see on any other 49, 50, or 51 Ford.

So he had me a custom set of taillights made for ole "Plum Crazy" !!!

He gave me a choice of clear lenses or smoke lenses ...

Me and Dylan (my Son) is thinking more Clear. Beings it will have a purple LED integrated into the brake lights to give it a more of an "old school Blue Dot" incert.

However, I'm thinking the smoked lenses will look cooler with the "Frenched in" effect we are doing with this car ...

(we are dechroming this car as much as possible).

What do you guys think ???

Damn, I just read through 15 pages of dick measuring hoping to see--at least a somewhat--finished product.  Can't wait to see what this baby looks like painted!

Thank You Sir, and sorry for the "unfinished product" dissapointment. We are just getting started with this one. The pic you see in my avitar is the direction we are going with this car.

Had to put it on hold for a while to build a small system for my son's 88 Ford F150. Plus, I do not have a shop so I have to wait until my dad had a free spot in his shop to work on it.

I have all of the Audio Equipment for this project. I Also have upolstery material for it. Just need to get the car up to par for everything to start going in.

Trust me, No body wants to see this car hit the Sound Quality lanes worse than I do. LOL

Well this past weekend did not go quite as planned.

There was going to be 4 people (not counting me and my dad) running sanders. Well, it ended up with 3 counting me.

So insted to taking stuff off of the car like I planned, we just sanded our asses off all day Saturday and half of Sunday.

We got just about the entire car down to bare metal.

Some unsuspected things (not with the car) happened and we did not get a chance to get started on actual body work.

So all that got done was sanding all of the surface rust off of the vehicle and applying a fresh coat of Primer.

In all, A VERY productive weekend on the ole Car !!!

Sorry for the shitty phone pics. Forgot to pack the Digi-Cam

Now with the surface rust all gone and a fresh coat of "this is gonna show EVERY imperfection on the vehicle" primer applied, we can now focus on what actually needs to be repaired and/or replaced. Basically now the body work begins !!!

Bout the only MAJOR wwork that needs to be done is "waist down" so to speak. Rock pannels, lower fenders, ect.

Top half of the car is in great shape !!! Thank God !!!

I'm on call this comming up weekend and it's mother's day / the Wife's Birthday the next weekend. So it will be 3 weekends before I can get the Car back into the Body Shop. But I do have some other things That I can do to the inside of the vehicle until then.

So bear with me guys !!! I'm working on it !!!

If I can talk the wife out of the money, I plan to order new Rocker / lower front Fender pannels for it on Pay Day.

Only other things I know I need to order is all of the windows, doors, and trunk lid rubber trim seals.

But yea, It's gonna take me month of Sundays to get this Block Sanding the way I want it.

This car has just as many sexy curves as a Victoria Secret's fashion model. LOL
