Mustangs come in v6 and v8, so why would someone swap it for a 4 cylinder?  Sean is saying that if this happened to be a mustang forum and someone started a thread "4 cyl swap" with the idea of making his car faster he would get told that it was a stupid idea. This is an audio forum.....see the analogy?

Yes, Mustangs had 4 cylinders ... early 90s, So did the Mercury Carpris ...

Wayway ... Who cares, I'm building a 49 sedan here ... not even close to a Mustang body style.

Can we move on please ???

just googled one ... copied and pasted the first one on the list ...

Goodluck with the harness. Seems like my nightmare last night lol! Can't wait to hear it. Should be incredible. Just like every other build you do!

Thank you Sir !!! Be a while before she plays music ...

The more I work on this car, the more customizing ideas we come up with !!! guess we will get to it one day ...

I could go on as you still seem to miss the point, but I'll respect that this is your build log and drop it.

Tuned in for the rest of the build! :)

I understood the point of his analogy just fine guys ... I just don't agree with it. Why would I sell my component set and change everything up when highly trained MECA judges have told us that my truck had some of the best midrange that they have ever herd. Dangrebel will tell you, he was there during my judging at SBN ... If you was told that, would you sell your equipment ??? I think not ... We have some really cool installation plans for this car, and I promise not to disappoint you guys !!! I just hope you guys meet me out at these events to see for yourself ...

With the way things are going, I may not make world finals this year ... But you can bet I will be hitting the events strong and heavy next year brothers !!! You never know, I just might make it !!!

Randal to clarify this is the first time you've EVER stated you were sponsored by Blues on this forum. You instead chose to complain about $$ instead. If you have to run something you have to run it.

And Rick actually followed. I didn't say make a 4 cyl fast, I was referring to as he says to yank a V8 and replace it with a 4. If you go reread you'll see that taking things in context helps. As of course would the quotes you are misrepresenting of mine. I surely said nothing in car audio will impress me, but what you left out was that I was comparing it to home audio.

The analogy of swapping a v8 for a 4cyl does not apply. Since he had nothing to begin with...

Liar !!!

Subject has already been covered in this build log ... twice actually

Yes, I have all my Audio equipment planned out ... I'm sponsored by Blues Car Audio.

No ... Just simple, well designed, well built, and detail installed ported and tuned enclosures (one in each kick pannel)

by Team Linear Power / Blues Car Audio ...

We are taking everything out of the truck (because insurance totaled my truck after the hail storm) and installing it into this car. Well, almost everything ...

We will not be using the 6.5" drivers or the 10" drivers for now ...

Say you have this young guy in college thats got this bad Mustang 5.0 for graduation ... Stock, but cool GT none the less ... He goes to the street drags / race track a few times and gets 1/4 mile hooked. You know how it is, We've all been there. So he tweeks, tunes, adds a power adder or two here and there and starts doing really good with the race scene ...

Then the unthinkable happens ... He finds this foxy young lady just jumping at the chance to ride in his car !!!

They go for that ride, fall in love, and there you go ... baby on the way !!! Guy goes from having it all to how am I going to pay for this ??? He wants to keep racing, but his prioroties have changed. Car gets low gas mileage with that BIG V8, cost of Nitrus ... Whats he going to do ???

Girl knowing his story tells him that she knows someone that migh can help him out and makes a phone call.

Next thing you know, some realative of hers works for a company similar to Carol Shelby corporation and tells the kid that he will buy his V8 to help him get back on his feet and in return he tries out one of their new projects ... a twin turbo 4 cyl. engine !!! Guaranteed to match the horse power of the V8 with better performance and better gas mileage !!!

Now I ask you ...

1. Do you think that given today's technology and the kid's situation ... do you think the kid would benefit from installing the custom built 4 banger ???

2. Given the correct credientials of the company thats supplying him with that engine, Do you think that custom built 4 banger would be a better engine than the V8 ???

3. Would you (if you was that young kid) say hell yes to this engine swap simply beacuse of having the bragging rights with an engine in your car built, tuned, and installed by a company as large and well known as Carol Shelby ???

4. What would you do if you was in his shoes ???

You have some guys on a Mustang Forum that will NEVER go to anything but a V8 ... but there is some that is not as fortunate to hold their ground so easily, but may yet see a clear light at the end of that tunnel !!! You never know ... I figure its always better to accomplish more with less ... If you can build a passive 2 way set up to be just as good as an active 3 way set up ... Why go with the 3 way setup ??? You never know unless you put in a little trial and error effort. Personally, I'd be sporting that custom built 4 banger in my ride like it's nobody's business !!!

You can't just say any Mustang on a Mustang forum ... Just like in Car audio, there is too many factors involved to come up with a "go directly to" solution without specific details and senarios. I understand this. We gave alot of thought into this dash build and plans can change if they need to ... Wouldn't be the first time we've had to go with a Plan B ... We will definately cross that bridge when we get there. I'm going to do EVERYTHING in my arsenal to make what I already have work in this car with planning, instalation, location, placment, angles, testing and tuning, and whatever recource I can muster up !!! I have all of the confidence in the world in my passive 5.25" component set !!! Ain't no telling how many beers will be drank before this car starts playing music. I'm already a few cases in and gonna make a beer run as soon as I park this bucket truck for the weekend !!!

Sean, I really appreciate your advice ... But please understand that Linear Power and Blues Car Audio has been very good to me for over 25 years. Sponsored or not, they have earned my respect and I will continue to use their products as long as I can ...

Ok ... Now back to the wiring harness !!!

I have no plans to put this car on a trailer to go long distances ... Alot of work for this old man !!!

So, I will be reciveing my Towbar soon ... Should be much easier beings this car is a standard and no plans to change it to an automatic ...

I want to modify my tail light, signal light, brake light section of the harness to accomodate the signals comming from the truck towing the vehicle.

Most people just throw lines on the cars and mount external lights onto the bumper or something ... Not going to happen with my ride.

So I went and picked up some cable and connectors that you would install on a car hauler trailer and made up some connection points to where I can simply plug in the light source I plan to use at that time ... Connection to the vehicle will be tucked somewhere in / under the front grille and the source connection will be in the trunk somewhere just before the driver's side rear lamp's grounding points. Should not be too complicated ... LOL

image_url-43297-1373017799.jpg

image_url-43297-1373017833.jpg

Everything seems to fit in the selected wire looms and mounting connections ... Hopefully I can get this into the car soon for a test fit in the next couple of days !!!

EDIT:

Just need to get back in touch with Hyper Automotive LEDs and HIDs to find out the status on my brake lights ...

Dang !!! Fast response on CA-F !!!

My guy is doing the rear brake lenses, I've just got him overworked on LED tails for the vintage cars too.

The other night, I had talk (over longnecks and drafts) with my friend Mike from Hyper Automotive LEDs and HIDs about my "plum crazy" 49 Ford Project. Well, he came to visit me the other night. I thought it was about my "one off" clear tail lights for the Ford, but it wasn't ...

Instead, he brought me my headlights !!! Oh Yes SSA ... these will work !!!

HIDs ... 55w, 30,000k bulbs !!!

image_url-43297-1373352068.jpg

image_url-43297-1373352123.jpg

This is a complete Kit !!! High and Low beams with only two bulbs, some of the best ballast that money can get, and already integrated relay setup for easy install, plug in, and play !!!

When you see the pics and vid in my next posts, you will see why these will easily fit the bill for my "plum crazy" theme !!!

How bout them apples !!! Plum Crazy Purple !!!

Well dang, for some reason my car leaked out all of It's brake fluid that night (possibly during the week while it was just sitting there) and so we had to very slowly move the car out of the car cover onto the road ... This sux !!! Guess I know what I have to do when I can get back to work on this car ...

Thanks man !!!

I need to aquire some remote turn on (blue) wire and some speaker wire for this wiring project.

I also need to come up with the wiring scheme for the Under Body, Hub / Grille Glows, Amplifier Rack, Trunk, and any other LED setups that will need go go into this vehicle ... The interior lumination LEDs should be separate from the rest of the LED stuff ... I think

This wiring harness should go in quickly once I actually get started on it ...

Finally !!! Got the insurance money needed to have my truck painted. Hopefuly I can get that finally done over the next couple of weeks so I get started back on this project ...

Thanks man ... I guess I will try my best to measure out my installation / wiring points for my multi color strips when I throw the jack stands under her when I get back to work on the Brakes ...

Speaking about the brakes ... I found a place (I think) where I can order a 4 wheel disc brake kit for my stock suspension ...

Think it would be really cool to have disc brakes and air bags on a stock suspension !!!

Dang !!! Almost forgot to tell you Clint ... While we were scoping out the install for a electric fan, we found some really cool places to mount the HID ballast !!! Close to the horn locations and should look cool when you open the hood and see a sponsor product !!!

Speedway sent me a bad headlight switch ... Sent it back today for a warranty replacement.

May go under the dash and work it by hand instead of foot control ...

Cool !!! Picked up a electrical fan today (Ford product too) from a friend in the Mississippi Street Rod Association and got those HID ballast installed and wired up yesterday !!!

Also, As much as I like those stock steel rims ... They leak around the seams and got to go. I know, I should be getting back to the truck like I said in the other thread, but I just couldn't help myself ... Found me a complete set of stock rims for a older model Ford Ranger. Should do the trick wile I work on everything else and not have to worry about my tires and wheels losing air all of the time ...

I will snap some pics of all this as soon as I can and hopefully get those damn brakes fixed ... If not, I will be snatching them bitches and ordering my Power Disc brake setup a little bit earlier than anticipated ...

I would like to say Thank You SSA for all your help and support on this thread ...

About towards the end of the year, We had to put this car on hold to get the truck Ready for World Finals ...

Competed ... had fun, and now the Truck (my 1997 Chevy Silverado) has been officially retired from Car Audio competition and is now planning to be used as a "tow pig" for this 1949 Ford from here on out ...

Just about everything has been taken out of the Chevy and is in storage until the 49 Ford is ready for audio installation ...

So Now its just about time to get back to work on this 1949 Ford ... Some plans are still the same, and some plans have changed ... Guess we can into that later ... But for now, we will start with this ...

This is what the car looked like when we put her up for the winter ... Man, this car rides and drives good !!!

I will snap some pics of all this as soon as I can and hopefully get those damn brakes fixed ... If not, I will be snatching them bitches and ordering my Power Disc brake setup a little bit earlier than anticipated ...

When we do change up the front suspension ... Plans are to go with the "FatMan Mustang II" setup with disc brakes and Ari Ride ... But for now, Stock will have to do. So this past weekend, We got the Mastar Cylinder rebuilt and hopefully I can get it installed back into the car this week So I can get her up on the trailer and down to dad's shop for a complete tune up !!! I can't wait to get a hot battery back into this car and hear her purr like a kitten again !!!
