Case and point. Your Ford install. As with ANY install be it home, car, boat the first thing you decide on are mounting locations. THEN you can start shopping for drivers. In your case this was done in reverse. That will never lead to an optimal install.

well here is my problem ... Insurance totaled my truck after the hail storm, I'm getting it painted, but I can not insure the truck for anything but liability. So I have no insurance on contents and will be pulling everything out soon since the truck is no good to me any more and the truck will be sold soon (I hope) ...

So with all this work I'm doing to the car, buying the wife a new car cause hers got totaled too, AND find me another truck to pull this Ford ... I have no money to buy stereo equipment. So I have to work with what I've got.

Did I also mention that i'm paying for one kid to go to college and one will be there in 2 years ?? I wish I had your kind to money so I could just buy whatever I wanted ...

Raw drivers are cheaper than components so it is rather easy to sell what you have and buy something more appropriate.

If I could buy all the "Raw Drivers" I would need for my car for about 50 bucks ... I would not have the money to spare ... You have to understand that I'm doing all that I can with what I already have to work with ...

So please ... there is no more need to ask me to buy different drivers to go into this car ... Especially when you will never make a trip out to one of these big Audio events to meet up with me, have a drink with me, and listen to it personally ... Now as far as driver location, position, angles, things like that ... I'm all ears !!!

And If I sell equipment now ... Chances are I will spend the money elsewhere and not have any equipment ... That would be real bad considering I would be losing a sponsorship too ... No thank you, not an option ...

I never asked, just was letting you know the effort/cost of the install is being SEVERELY limited by your driver choice.  As for me coming to an event, not sure how that pertains at all to the discussion at hand.

Just an FYI.  Designing new passives to use in situ will cost more than new drivers.

Sean ... Please man, lay off my setup. I have alot more things I need to worry about. I know you don't like Blues Car Audio, and I'm cool with that ... But its beating a dead horse. I'M NOT CHANGING ANYTHING WITH MY CAR AUDIO SYSTEM ..

And yes, Meeting up with you would do us alot of good I think ... Just saying

And there it is again.  You pasted this into your thread.  I'd tried to leave it elsewhere.  It is really audio 101.  Wasting money is worse than spending it.  Your choice.

If you want to meet then travel to something worth visiting.

And lol to the attitude you "aren't changing anything"

Alright brother ... Its cool. Let's move on ...

This weekend is already planned out with the car ... And with all the stuff my wife wants me to do with her this weekend, chances are the car will not get touched ... Way it goes I guess

Sean, get off his damn threads. It's obvious you always pick on his setups. If you want him to change something. I can get his Paypal info for you, I'm sure he would love the funds to do so...

Umm, I didn't bring this up in his thread. He took a post in a discussion outside of this thread and chose to quote it in here so I responded. For some reason he likes the drama.

Amusingly he finally shared his real problem there as well. He is sponsored and cannot choose different drivers. Explains why he would use something so misplaced for the install. In his other thread and this one that teeny bit of information could have changed a bunch of things.

As for picking on his setups. This is an audio forum. What he is doing is akin to someone coming on a Mustang forum and transplating a 4cyl to try and make it faster. Utilizing the wrong motor for the goals at hand is silly. Same can be said about drivers. It'd be rather rude to not offer to help someone who is posting on a forum that specializes in the task at hand.

Of course to keep the analogy true, if that person on the Mustang forum was offered a ridiculous 4cyl engine for free that made similar power to an 8 but at next to no cost for the OP it could be a reasonable solution. Still strange, but financially reasonable. If that poster didn't share that as a parameter though everyone would consider it stupid since for all non-financial reasons it would be.

Didn't get much done to the car this weekend cause I had to make some quick cash for parts ...

So I got Rickey's Mustang set up with a set of Hyper Automotive LEDs and HIDs Under Body Kit and Hub Glow Kit ...

Yes, the man has 22s on this Mustang !!!

Drama ... Not really, but I do like Posting up my build log so that my car can be seen by anyone who wants to view it and comment on it ... However, I do not care to repeat my self, the Sponsorship subject has already been covered in this thread ...

I would like to be sponsored by the products that go into this car for the next 2 competition seasons.

If you know me in any way, Brands like Linear Power, Blues Car Audio, and Hyper Automotive LEDs and HIDs should be a no brainer ... I am just as dedicated to this group as the members here are to Team IAK and Team SSA.

Now I'm not sure about you, but down here in the South ... We go to the 1/4 mile race tracks !!! ALOT !!!

And I've been to more than my share of midnight street drags too ... Don't get me wrong, I love my V8 Fords and Chevys, But I've seen plenty of 4 bangers and V6s stand up and hold their own against some of the strongest V8s out there ...

"Go big or go home" or "do more with less" Just as in Car Audio, this still goes out on steet cars and race cars as well ... With power adders (Turbos, superchargers, Nitrus Oxide, ect ...), suspension tricks, body modifications, tuning (plays a BIG roll these days), build quality, man this list goes on and on ... Its alot more of an even playing field than it used to be ... All depends on how you build your ride !!!

I remember back in 87 when the Grand Nationals came out with the Turbo V6s and practically blew away everything out on the track ... V8s are monsters, but can be beat ...

Guy on our team has a 92 Mercury Capri with a 4 cyl / turbo charger setup installed that will flat out haul ass and suprise you greatly in the quarter mile ... and if I was a betting man, I would bet on that Capri in the quarter against the average street / bracket tuned V8 mustang anyday ... just saying

Will I ever build this 49 to race street or track ??? Who knows, guess we will cross that bridge when we get there ... I do have a 1/4 Race car built Chevy 454 setting on a motor stand if I really gave it some thought ...

You completely missed the analogy. :(  Had nothing to do with saying 4cyl are slow.

He got it... He's sayin it's better to be the best with less than everyone else. That's what his installs are about. A simple component set up with 8in low end kicks. That's all he needs to keep up with people running 3x that equipment. Keep it simple, keep it clean...

Well then clarify...

No need, Its all good brother ...

Just find it hard to believe that with as much time he's spent trolling my build logs that Sean let the information of "I'm Sponsored" completely slip his mind ... It happens I guess. No worries though ...

And as far as his anology goes ... doesn't really matter to me when Sean tells me things after he has made statements like this ...

there is not anything in car audio that will impress me.

As for the events, I used to attend events. Stopped going more than 20 years ago. Just not into the dipshits that come out.

hmmm ... Wonder who he is talking about here ???

So as far as Mustangs go, Think I have me a lead on a Mustang 2 Front suspension setup for the 49.

Hopefully we can get something going on this with air ride soon (if I can talk the wife out of the funds) ...

Mustangs come in v6 and v8, so why would someone swap it for a 4 cylinder?  Sean is saying that if this happened to be a mustang forum and someone started a thread "4 cyl swap" with the idea of making his car faster he would get told that it was a stupid idea. This is an audio forum.....see the analogy?

If you decide you need a larger format sub I have a couple xbl^2 motors that could make some nice little drivers. I even have some blank dust caps to make them stealth.

Yes, Mustangs had 4 cylinders ... early 90s, So did the Mercury Carpris ...

Wayway ... Who cares, I'm building a 49 sedan here ... not even close to a Mustang body style.

Can we move on please ???

No thanks ... I have a pair of 7" Exodus Audio drivers with the xbl^2 motors in one of my home audio cabinets ...

VERY NICE Drivers !!!

I already have the drivers I need for the kick pannels that should be more than enough for what I'm looking for out of this system ...

BTW ... I'm going back to my dad's house next weekend to get back to work on my truck (insurance finally paid for my paint job). Any chance you gonna be in town to meet up ??? I should be there all weekend ...
