chit fudge chit

driving home from school today, music playing next thing i know my truck starts randomly slowing down and my ABS light is blinking. THen i see my voltage meter is droping lower than usualy with the beat. I turn the system off and everything is good. Turn it back on and same problem.

Im pretty sure my alternator just died on me.

how this relates to the ABS randomly comming on i dont know. Glad my 4 year old battery had the life in her to get me home, Hopefully it can get me to the parts store to have my battery and alternator tested. If it is the alternator, while im paying $150 for a new stock replacemnt, i'll probably pay $100 more tops for a Hight Output Alternator. Since my battery needs replacing too, i may as well drop in a red top.

sucks thought because i was planning on a HU but that may have to wait. We will see.

This really sucks. I dont know how i will make it to school for the rest of the week either. Glad i get paid today.

When that happened to me, it was due to my 10 year old stock battery terminals having corroded to the point they weren't making good contact anymore.

Two Tsunami terminals solved that problem.

Had something similar happen to me, twice.

One time it was that my belt tensioner pulley had given out and fallen off, the other time it was the battery crapping out on me.

figgured it out, one battery terminal was cracked and the otherone just wasnt making good contact. The alternator is only 95a so when my engine was drawing its portion and my IS2080 and my BX1205D tried to yank another 120a from it the voltage dropped way low. Surprised the amps didnt go into protect. Sanded the terminals and repalced the cracked one, running helthy now. Scared me so bad ive decided that after my HU and new midbass's new Alternator is on the list. Mean Green has one for $320. 180 is more than what i need, even for my upcomming competitons. Im deciding on wether or not to run a red or yellow top. Ill be compeating dB Drag and not Bass Race so a 180a alt doesnt do anything for me.

run the yellow top at the minimum, but try to get a blue top in there. the red isn't deep cycle. trust me, lol. while my red top is a great battery, when it comes to really pulling amps, it sucks.

what truck?

wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee :slayer:

'00 Mazda B3000

Im only running Street B/AS1, so even on a slow blow im not going to be able to draw more than 100a for burps. Also, for the first half of the season at least, ill probably be running my BX1205D.

yellow and blue tops are the same batts jsut different terminal options. yeah for a good all around batt the red top sucks. stock replacement for normal car use red top works great.
