Downfire enclosure in Jeep Wrangler?

I'm trying to figure out an enclosure configuration for 3 SA-10s, just not sure which way to go.  Was looking at doing a downfire enclosure with an aeroport(s) firing to the side,. Just curious if there is any drawbacks to something like this. I like the idea of it being less visible,  as well being a little more protected from the elements if the top is down.  If it's a terrible idea, I'm all ears for better options.  Thanks

The rear seats fold up. I have 38.5 x 16 x 20 to work with, I figured that should be enough room, but if not I can always just run 2 it's not that big of a deal

Accounting for only a single layer build of 3/4" that gives you 5.74 cu/ft of airspace to work with internally. This is before any woofer, brace or port displacement. Per the Specs from Sundown they suggest 1.25 - 1.5 per SA10 when porting; so 3.75 - 4.5 total airspace required. I don't know what they displace but I'd say roughly .1 cube each, so .3 total maybe a bit more. That is 4.05 - 4.85 total volume used of your max of 5.74. If you put any braces inside they'll take up some as well. The question is, does that leave you enough room for the port? You didn't specify how long they would need to be for whatever tuning it is you wanted.

 

Does the space you put include space for box risers? You'll want it to be up off the floor a bit not only to allow for excursion but also to let the subs breathe. If the dimensions you included are max including box risers, you might not have enough space for 3. I have seen downfiring enclosures before and have also had some home subs that were down firing so it should work but whether it is optimal; I cannot say.

Thanks for the reply Polish. Somehow I completely spaced off the fact i was measuring external not internal dimensions so that definitely sways me a little bit. I am just going back to my original plan of running 2, I highly doubt adding another will be that audible anyways, I just had it so thought why not use it. I believe the displacement is .1 per sub, and I'm looking at tuning it @ 35.  I thought they only needed 1-1.25 per sub, but either way, if I am only running 2 that should make it a little easier to make work. I have never dealt with a downfire setup so not sure if it is optimal or not. Hopefully somebody out there has info on this
