plugging in rca's

So I'm gonna do the wiring for my 4channel before I actually get it and the way my h/u kit is designed my h/u has to be bolted in...u can't just pull it out from the front. So can I plug in the rca's in the back of the h/u and not have them plugged into anything at the other end or does there have to be a connection? Or should I just do all the wiring and just not plug it in the h/u until there's a 4 channel I can plug it into

just back wrap the rca's on the other end towards the amplifier with electrical tape (sticky side out) until you get ready to put the amp in
