Bypassing the video parking

Recommended Posts

So me, the gf and the little one are going on a trip next week and I wanna get my DVD working in my truck so the little one can watch DVD's. Now, I wanna bypass the parking system feature on it so the little one can watch a movie or 2 on the highway. I know this is illegal but its only for this trip. We usually use the gf's vehicle but hers in the shop for warranty work. Whats the easiest way to bypass this?

PAC TR7 is commonly used for this, but it's going to depend on your particular unit.  List what DVD HU you have.

Simply just connect the parking brake wire, (light green) to ground.  Thats all. :)

Yes, any ground will work, I usually just connect it to the ground of the radio harness.

Okay, thats what I thought. So will any ground work?

Pretty much yes. Of course running it to a switched ground would be best in the event you need to make a quick switch. I've seen a lot of people just wrap it in with the same wire as the one used for ground on the head unit. Some Double din units have a smart recognition that won't work wired directly to ground as it has to check signal first and then be put back in park. Only seen this in a couple older pioneers though.
