Hifonics brutus amps

Recommended Posts

im thinking about getting 2 zcon 18's next week, but for now i was going to go with Hifonics amps until i can afford a better amp. Was gonna run each Zcon on a Brutus 2400.1...They are supposedly CEA certified. Is anyone running Hifonics amps?? Are they worth a crap?

hifonics amps aren't bad but you could save money and buy one really good amp for only $500 more. I would just wait until you have the money for a better amp but if you wanna run those then that's fine. The brz line isn't crap but it isn't the best either.

I briefly tried one of the Hifonics Class D amps a few years ago.  I did not like it at all and ended up sending it back.  I didn't think it was making advertised power and I certaintly didn't like the sound quality.  Its possible they have improved over the last couple of years, I haven't tried any since that time.

I'm an old school guy.  If I were looking for an amp and I was on a budget, I would probably hit the Bay and try to find a good, old school amp in nice condition.  You can usually find some good deals if you are patient and really look.

Just my opinion.  Good luck with whatever decision you make.

They are not bad amps. But like others have said, I would wait and save for something to either pop up on sale, or save for a really nice amp. Any of the amps listed in this store will do just fine.

What's your electrical like? You must take that into account when running that much power!

I had a brz 1700 that ran my Q pretty well @ 2 ohms. Honestly though I would just get one nice amp for now and then add another of the same down the road.

What is your budget?

I personally dig hifonics amps. I was impressed with the hifi line they came out with.  Price for power= good deal specially if you snag them up used.

I always say the Brutus line and the xxv line from Hifonics all do rated power but they are power hungry like a mofo. So basically you will end up paying more for couple extra batts rather than just going with more effiecient amps like sundown, skar, dc power, AQ, etc. I even heard soundstream and audiopipe amps are more efficient then Hifonics but maybe someone with more knowledge can chime in. I've ran Hifonics amps for a few years but am now about to purchase a sundown amp. Love the Hifonics amps for the money you can't beat it. My only complaint is they are current hogs.
