Sundown e 12 is a hoss

Recommended Posts

So to make a long story short I have a polk amp that puts out 573 watts rms. The rated rms level for the e 12 is 400 and my amp can't even push it. I don't know if it is because the sub hasn't broken in yet or if because this sub is simply a Badass.

Anyway the point I am trying to make is... Thanks Jacob for making a beast subwoofer. Now just time to get a more Badass amp to push this bad boy.

If your amp "can't even push it" something is definitely wrong. What are the settings on the amp? And more importantly, tell us about your box.

I mean it can play it but not very loudly. Box is 2 cubes tuned to 35 hertz ported. Up tuned to gain for my old sub. Probably should retune it

Absolutely no reason that amplifier shouldn't be able to sufficiently power that subwoofer as long as everything is properly setup

Exactly.

And you have it in the biggest suggested box, 2.0 cub feet.

I have a SA-12 in a 1.75 and while barely moving it still makes some noticeable bass at low levels.

the end, why did you mark my advice as bad>?

do you honestly agree that a new sub should be ran with the same settings as your old sub?

Reading OP's post I did not imagined he had the amplifier on another subwoofer and he simply reconnected the wires when he got the E12, without any adjustments to the settings.

But after you mentioned it, that might have been the case, tho he pointed out he has done some settings.

With my -1, I though you suggested a new subwoofer and box(basically ditch whatever he has now and invest even more $). My bad. wink.png
