It snowed here for a week straight, and today it was in the 40s again and is supposed to be for the next few days. I hate this shit. Either snow and stay cold, or stay warm.

One more thing I really need to address is porting the exhaust manifold. That will get done either when it's new turbo time or new downpipe time.

Not sure about diesel but I have found restrictive exhaust manifolds and open from the down pipe out provides better torque and horsepower transition in gasoline motors. I have tried large long tube headers and short small tube headers and found much better 60 foot times and overall 1/4 miles were considerably improved

Are there any cheap'ish fuel efficiency vehicles that aren't small and slow pieces of shit? I don't want a Neon, Civic, etc. But I would like to get something that doesn't get 15mpg and that isn't a chick car.

Budget and year models? I am a huge fan of Buicks for reliability, economy, size, power, and value. The Park Avenue Ultras are awesome. Plenty of power, reliability, room, fuel economy, and cheap enough to acquire. If you like roadmasters, you will love Park Avenue Ultras (supercharged 3800s)

The best thing about Buicks is their horrid resale value. You can get into a 4 year old car for under $3K. Sure it sucks if you want to sell every 2 years or so, but if you are in it for the long haul, the cost of ownership is nil.

You know I actually looked at a couple PA Ultras, but I wasn't willing to pay what they were asking for the mileage they had. I had a non-supercharged 3800 in my '97 Olds LSS and the gas mileage wasn't all that great, atleast not as good as I'm looking for considering I'm guaranteed atleast 80 miles per day commuting to work. Thing was pretty bulletproof though. I drove it while overheating on 2 separate occasions and didn't blow a gasket or crack a head, much to my dad's amazement

No real price range, just tossing some feelers out there to see if anything peaks my interest. Definitely not over $5k preferably $3k or less....the cheaper the better. The cost of the vehicle needs to be able to be offset by my savings in fuel economy in rather short order to make it worth it.

Just paid $91 for a full tank of gas in my truck (around 335 miles of travel). I have my Saturn in Tx that I could bring up and get double the milage. Or I could sell it down there and use the money towards something up here in Kansas. I really wanted my next car to be something sporty (BMW ish) but that isn't in the cars for at least 8 months (more like a year).

It's funny hearing people with high-end equipped, 4-5 year old bikes complain that their shifters are acting up. Mine probably got their only clean-up in the last 20 years this autumn and before that they worked fine. And they are considered low-end.

Just for the hell of it I'll probably enter a cycling competition this summer. Gotta find some skinny, light wheel/tire combo and then I'm good to go.

Bad mechanics make bad bikes. Higher end shifters mostly save you weight and have snappier response. "Acting up" is probably just stretch in the cables and fixed in about 15 seconds.
