As much as I hate the saying

Yolo J

Get what you want and can afford.

And therein lies part of the issue. I am not 100% certain what I want. I have stated before that I would drive the damn thing till the wheels fell off, and am still partial to that plan, just wondering if its a bright idea.

I am stuck in a debate here guys. I love my Tundra. Minus the flakey MPG, she's been pretty great to me. But with my severance check, I am debating on spending about 20k paying her off, or trading it in on something else. The ONLY issues I have had is over the last two weeks my cigarette lighters/charging ports quit working(changed fuse tonight but no change) the USB quit charging my cell (prolly bad cable as it charged my iPod fine) and the antenna came loose today.

She does everything I ask and has ample room (comfortable fit 3 220lb+ men and 2 women in it for a 3 hr each way trip two weeks ago) and the towing has been great to me. I just. Don't know if I should get something else.

I have been contemplating a Raptor, a Jeep STR8, or a F150 harley edition.

I'll drive a vehicle until the wheels fall off. While I know I am in the minority here, I feel it is just a way to get to and from and frankly I couldn't give a fuck about it as long as it is reliable and in the case of my "nice" vehicle it should look decent. My truck it just a work truck, and I treat it as such. I say just drive it. I haven't had a car payment in 17 years. Keep your money for more important things, like a place to live.

What year Tundra? Engine and trans (manual/auto)? Trim (ie: SE/XE/TRD)? I'll look at the diagrams and lead you to a fix for the charger/lighter.

2011 SR5 with the TRD Off Road package. Automatic, 4x4, no navi, power drivers seat, back up cam.

There is a large fuse in the underhood junction block for the power outlets. It actually feeds a relay in the under dash junction block. So check all fuses under the hood as well. Unfortunately Toyota doesn't like to number fuses, but I bet it is in a stack of fuses on the battery terminal. Toyota and Nissan love to do this shit, and often times they will corrode in 2 near the fuses. Nissan liked to use fusible links, but Toyota likes to have beefy wafer fuses.

In fact, most everyone i know would prefer AWD to FWD.

Anything Wheel Drive to FWD for me.  :)

Something else Americans think is that AWD always means only one tire pulling/pushing the car. They don't know modern systems can spin all 4.

I don't know, nor have i ever heard of anyone thinking this way.

I know a lot of good old boys.

No, no they do not.

Had a female friend who drove a mid/later 90's Corolla.  She called me saying her car wouldn't start one day, and no it sure wouldn't.  I start looking, and almost every single fuse in the car was blown, including the 50A (or whatever big) fuses, very few fuses were still good and she never would tell me what she did to it.

Replaced all the fuses and it started right up and didn't have any issues.

My camry, and many other Toys of that era had major wiring issues. The wiring through doors was a particularly widespread issue. I completely rewired 3 of the 4 doors due to this.

My 4runner is well labeled, but the Camry on the other is not.

Backhoe windscreen removal was a success. I got some special wire from somebody and mixed with knife action and some help from rust, I got it out in ~2 hours.

After I get my check I plan to.

No electronic shit. Just fire and sex.

Is the 996 that vanilla ?

I could almost afford that, payments of course. ;)

Holy shiiiiiiiiiiiiieeeeeeeeeeeeeettttttttttt

AAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNND I'm spooked on an A3 for another year.  Thank you.

I think it would be fun working on cars like that.

Sure, for those of us with the time, space, money, tools, equipment, skills and spare car. wink.pngwink.png

I mean from a service point. It would help me understand why they do some of the crazy shit they do. Not sure if I would ever own something like that.

I really love all that something like an A3 or RS6 have specs wise; manual/AWD/good power with huge potential/wagen/great handling/aftermarket parts etc. etc., but the cost to maintain, insure and in general own, is just out of the realm of what I am comfortable opening my wallet up to.  So few wagens available with similar features.  Pretty much leaves it to a Speed3/STI/A3/328i.  C-class wagen is gone and was never offered in manual, E55AMG is $$$ and not manual and so on.

Why not an RS2? Old but should be tons of fun with the 20v turbo :)

You know, for years i've been trying to figure out why the Speed3/Focus/C30 has not received AWD. They've done it in EU (Focus) without adding cost, so why can't they do it here?

What ? AWD Focus in Europe? I'll have to check but I don't think there is an AWD Focus :)

3 buddies just argued with me that even modern AWD systems only drive one tire at a time. And thus ooooold 4x4 is still better.

If it's all open diffs, you CAN get to where only one wheel gets all the torque. But I don't know any respectable AWD's without at least a form or front/rear torque distribution.

I'd consider this as a joy ride:

Audi%2080%20quattro%20(233)_7054_big.jpg

It's Quattro and with a 20v turbo it should sound awesome and move awesome :)

As in non turbo?

No it is fun, but the turbo has much much much less of a chance of engine trouble. Even with mods. The regular flavor doesn't just blow up, it is rare to have problems... But the turbo is rock solid.

I also look as the turbo 996 as "free" AWD. While I don't need it, it would be nice in MN.

I walked into a shop here that was having a "super sale" just to browse, and they had 13.5 w6's for ~600-700, the W7's weren't even marked. I understand the fact that they need to pay the bills but how many people will spend that much on a sub? Also 1000 dollar loaded kicker setups, just two 12's in a box no amp, and they weren't even kicker's top of the line subs...
