Welcome to the IHoP v.2

Dinner.

1030 pm - 4pm equals just about right from what I have read. This is my first brisket. My ribs usually take 7-8 hours. I also have a leaky smoker. I was surprised to see it maintained 215 all night long. Had to add fuel about 6 o'clock this morning.

dont confusesparee rib times eith bqbies. Hugely differemt

One isn't enough and make sure it is the right one.

If I go drive one it would be a Cayanne and honestly, I can't see me wanting anything besides a Turbo. Just going from a v8 to a v6 with a huge drop in towing is a nogo.

J

the new v6 cayenne illl dance all over your truck and the non turbo 8 wlll destroyy the 6
Problem is towing rating. Will it hold up?

Also when you say 'new' what years like 06+? I MAY go look soon. Just for shit's and giggles. I figure i owe like 22 on the Tundra, so maybe trade it in and pay that money for something else. I only look at the Porsche because its dumb ass fast, and still has better MPG than my Tundra, but does it have 4x4?

J

better mileage, rofl

I take is Porsche's MPG rating is even more of a dream than Toyota's is?

J

all ratings are conservative these days IF you drive conservative. 450hp and a heavy foot sucks gas

All manufacturers are held to the same standards.  Comes down to the driver.

All the rules are fucked.  None of them actually reach their mileage under normal driving conditions.    It's just another way for the government to gather money and form control.

The electric and hybird are the most tucked. Meeting the standard and achieving mileage are two different things. Playing field for gas only is level though

The new civic gets 42.3 MPG @90% interstate mileage. Already put ~1,100 miles on it since Thursday morning.

I make money while I drive. Drive time at my normal hourly rate plus 45 cents a mile. The milage alone is e ought to pay for my vehicle plus a little in profit.

My wife gave me a weird ultimatum. She told me to buy a car and just patch my truck up.

WTF.

I clarified, she told me she wanted me to buy a car for myself and just tinker with the truck.

Shocked the Fuck out of me.

14lb brisket, 6 racks of pork, 18 ears of corn, crockpot full of charro beans, asparagus, 2 small cakes. About 14 people eating and very minimal leftovers in the fridge. Succes I suppose.

Need to sharpen my brisket game for sure but the rest came out perfect. Well the asparagus was a hair over cooked. I only like it grilled and I lost track if it while tending to the ribs.

This company produces a lot of stuff that are local favorites in the New Orleans area and they have a online store.  The link below are marinades with the injectors (they sell with out also).  One jar is large enough to marinate a whole turkey.  We normally use "Creole Butter" for poultry but the "turkey marinade" is good as well. For meats just depends on what you are looking for.  Inject and poor the rest over the meat in a container (we have large vacuum containers we marinate in).  marinate for 24 hrs before cooking.  For your brisket and roasts let them set after cooking until internal temp drops down to about 150 degrees.  This will let the meat relax and will reabsorb juices.

also comes in gallons

NOTE.  Marinades are heavy on particulates so if you don't purchase with the injector make sure you have an injector with large openings.

Everyone knows about Tabasco sauce but most professional chefs down here use Louisiana Gold.

For smaller slow cooks for just me and the ole lady I use something like this.  Mine is of course homemade.

Took the lady to see our first MLB game tonight. Rays lost to the Blue Jays but we had a great time.

In either the 2nd or 3rd inning I caught a foul ball. As I was taught when I was a kid, I gave it to the lil kid nearest to me as a souvenir. Turned out it was his birthday. Anyways, I want to check out the replay of the game and see if it appeared on TV as I know sometimes fouls do. Aybody have a great site for replays without paying the damn MLB an extra 20 bucks?

Also has a dude run across the field not naked or anything, but just running across.

J

That's freaking awesome J, you made that kids day that much better! It's pretty rare to catch a ball at a game! Maybe you can find someone that dvr'd the game?

That is a big thing I miss about living in SoCal. I am not a big baseball fan by any means... watching on TV is so fucking boring to me, but I love going to a pro game. I went to several Padres games and starting dating a broad who lived in Anaheim who loved going to Angels games so I saw a shit ton of them. The farm team games suck. Always stupid shit going on between innings, but I love being at an MLB game.

Glad to hear you had a good time.

The farm team games in Buffalo used to be pretty good. Got to see and get autographs of some names when I was a kid.

Manny and alex Ramirez, Bartolo Colon, Richie Sexton, Enar Diaz, and a few more.

As far as catching the ball, I just got lucky. I hope to see the replay sometime soon.

Between focusing on class and losing some motivation to workout I stopped eating like a fatty for the last few months, but I'm starting to get back into the groove.
