I need a reference point to research from.

I've learned over the past few months that most people really don't enjoy music like I do and all of you over here. they don't get the tingle behind their neck when the bass drum starts, there hair doesn't stick on end when the guitar comes in. I know I'm home here

I just saw Pacific Rim.

It is pretty easily my favorite sci-to action movie ever. Absolutely perfect and waaaaaay over the top in every way and only enough story to make it work.

Amazing, and oddly beautiful. I expected tacky.

 

I want to see it too. I may like it too since, you know, we like some of the same shit already. :)

I have this amplifier connected to my PC and when I turn the volume knob at certain levels it makes noise through the speakers. You will hear it in the video, sounds like someone is playing with a plastic bag or an empty station on your radio.
One small solution I've found is, If I push the knob (apply some mechanical force to it) and then turn it, the noise is a lot less.
Any ideas what it might be and how do you fix it?

You don't want to entertain the though of a diesel just for the cost of maintenance alone.

And a million other reasons. I wouldn't mind a superduty, but I don't wanna put one in my vehicle.

 

 

You couldn't even get me to buy a super duty with a diesel.  I'm happy with the one I got for work with the 5.4L gas.  

 

UNLESS one is towing a trailer as a daily occurrence, you won't find me every buying one.

Everyone I know with a new diesel pickup spends ~5k every other year on maintenance.  With the reliability and power of modern gas engines, you can't get me to drive a diesel that costs that much.  One of the other shops over here has a '04? F-350 that just dropped 8k+ at the shop for getting it worked on the last two months and had to have it towed 3 times.  I know of couple more people with newer ones that drop serious coin on it on fuel injectors, controllers, glow plugs, etc, etc.

Well its not that bad for what you have though. I serviced my truck every 8k miles and it was around 125 for a normal service, every other service I would have both fuel filters changed and that was roughly another 100.

 

An 04 F350 is a horrible example of whats reliable in the deisel world. Its the first full year of the 6.0 which is the worst setup maybe ever put in a truck. Although mine went 150k without ever doing a single thing to it but drive it, (not even brakes). Now that the motor was built the truck will probably go a long ass time before the guy has any problems. He may need brakes soon though. lol

I've been driving Ford PowerStroke Bucket trucks for years !!! They run good, but when the gas tanks started deteriorating ... the problems start !!!

 

Now I drive a bucket truck with the V-10 ... Not as strong and powerfull as the power strokes, but overall ... WAY better setup !!!

Gas mileage could be better, but you have to think this is a 1 1/2 ton (F450) loaded bucket truck we are talking about here ...

If I were building a Modular 5.4 motor I would use MMR, you can get a very nice built shortblock for about 3200 bucks. 

Or a full assembly internal kit for around 1500-2000.  I would rather a have a assembled shortblock myself, finding trust worthy Modular builders local would be difficult I think.

Driven both for many years ... The 6.0 wasn't worthy enough to even hold the jock strap of the PowerStroke 7.4 !!!

My 98 F450 with that 7.4 rode and drove like a sports truck from the day they gave it to me until I gave it back for the newer one with the 6.0 ... 3 days of driving it, I went back in and asked for my old truck back. Resale on those 7.4 must have been realy good at that time cause the old truck lasted for one day in the auction yard ...

Those 6.0 trucks stayed in the mechanic shops ...

Hardly any 6.0's running around home, lots of late 2000 models, early 201*, they are the mechanics best friend.

More seriously, tv tube cleaner. Sounds like an analog pot is getting "scratchy"

My BIL hasn't spent that on his Ford in the 7 years and 150k miles he's driven it. Not even close.

Just picked up an '11 or '12 Chevy from our motorpool.  Not a fan.  Its a base model extended cab 1500 4x4, steering is 'twitchy' and seats suck.  A world of difference from Dad's GMC 2500 that is loaded, and it isn't a good difference.
