Oh, and if you think the Toyota dealership prices are rough. An oil change on my car at Benz is $280.

Yeah 20k service on the 550 cost $400. It was basically an oil change and an "inspection"

That is a bit over $500 on the 63

Short and skinny my service agreement is up (bad blood about that too) on my 2011 tundra. I refuse to pay their prices for simple shit. What should I need done at 30k and afterwards? I know often dealers want to do extra stuff just to pad their pockets.

Why can't you do your own maintenance?

On post housing frowns on mechanic stuff at home. On base shops about 10 -20 an hr depending on what you are doing/tools needed.

The Toyota oil change is 67 with sinthetic oil and 100 point inspection

The 30k service is 375 and includes

Oil change

Air filter change

Cabin air filter change

Clean brakes

Flush transfer case

Balance and rotate tires

Tires have less than 10k on em so it's not really needed. Cleaning the brakes I have no clue about, nor flushing the transfer case. Never done it/had it done on other trucks.

No need to balance your tires unless there is a vibration. All other items are easy enough.

Is the transfer case flush a good idea at 30k considering I don't use it often?

I drain and refill mine every 50k. Maybe Seth can offer more insight.

If it fails and you don't have a receipt showing you at least bought new fluid they could decide not to cover it.  Doesn't mean it is necessary.

Waste. Huge percent of vehicles go to the junk yard with factory fluid in it and transmission too.

That is a good point.

Condensation can cause junk build up inside the transfer case and trans. Even if the units are sealed moisture can still build up in the oil.

Our lab does analysis on lube oils for manufactures.

If I don't change the oil on my dipstick every 50 miles I get condensation.

I disagree. A rotation every 3-5K is magic to tire life, with a balance every other time. Particularly if they are oversized.

Of course, if I was paying for them I would sing a different tune but free lifetime rotate and balance I has.

Peng have you heard anything about them having problems? A few guys locally and some online mentioned them having a lot of ussues.

I would kill for the AA shotgun or thr sword. Only .mil issues though. I am sure the AA costs > $20k though at mfg price.

No clue. Just what I have read and heard in discussion.

I get the craziest salt cravings. This makes me do stupid things. I ate a not so small bag of cheetos tonight.

I must be getting sick. And after those move through me I WILL be sick.

Maybe my electrolyte levels are just waaaay down. Oj and spinach smoothie and then some miso "broth" and a gallon of water for breakfast are in order I think.

Too bad I don't have a banana to thrown in.

Generally not a lot. 30Ks are just quick look overs, really.

There is no flushing a transfer case, it is just a drain and fill. As mentioned, there are a ton of transfers running around with factory fluid in them, but IMO it is just a tiny amount of money for fluid, and just a few minutes to drain and fill the unit.

It doesn't matter how often you use it, it is always in motion as you drive.

I never even think about my transfer case. I should drain and fill myself.
