Welcome to the IHoP v.2

When I heard that recording of Stream on that album I was flat out mesmerized.

The production was so good too. You can hear the fingers brushing the strings. It was just amazing to me.

I also loved Dave Matthews Band. The live at Luther college album with Tim Reynolds is easily some of the best accoustic guitar music. It would be me into a trance almost.

No drugs needed. Now that I'm a grown man I should listen to DMB high. I must be the only person who enjoys their music and doesn't smoke any pot.

Was that show in 95 or 96? I was at it if so.

February 6, 1996, Luther College, Decorah, Iowa

Yep.  Senior Yr.  I couldn't remember if it was then or 95.

This will be the third year in a row.

They requested my resume because they want me in their building to build a maintenance team.

Sometimes redundant interviews year after year will take the wind out of your sails.

My opinion?

I gather you are good at what you do. This is really not a guess, rather an observation of how you carry yourself, your obvious work ethic (I've not seen very many people always working and completing so many different tasks so efficiently), how you are involved with your family, how you choose to keep and maintain your possessions, and so many other things I have gathered over the years of knowing you, reading your posts, seeing your pics...

I know I am good at what I do as well. I know I would not be giving them the time of day, at this point. If you don't hire me when I first interview with you, I will give you another chance. The guy you hired instead of me didn't work out, but by now you should know my reputation. On my second interview, this is your last chance. If you don't hire me this time, you are missing out on the best candidate for the job, and now it's an insult. You want me to come back for a third shot? You are going to have to pay dearly for my services now.

I did that in my current job. I went in, the guys in the shop saw me and knew who I was. They hired someone else the first time, but he was told by the fellas how good I am. The next time, I walked in to the office and informed them that I had been there before, and this was their last opportunity to hire me.

They jumped at the chance to hire me.

You are obviously a worthy candidate for whatever it is you choose to do, Neal. This is not some internet ass kiss or butt fluff, it is truly how you come across. Don't ever let anyone step on you like this again. If you want to go through with the interview, as you have not given them an ultimatum, do it... but let them know that this is their last opportunity at the rate they are currently offering you.

Thank you Seth. I am going to see what tomorrow brings with this interview, but like I told my manager, this is the last time. I enjoy developing mechanics and leaders. The only down side is the guys I train leave me and become a lead mechanics on other shifts.

I haven't thought about and played a track from DMB or Tim Reynolds in a long time.

The memories that it pulled from the trash bin of my brain is crazy. Took my first crush to a DMB show. What a waste lol.

At the end of the day it is the same job in another facility where we make wet wipes, spun lace, and injection molding.

So this heating season brings an interesting dynamic. Fuel oil is cheaper than wood pellets. Guess I will be using oil this year.

My latest project was installing 2 275 gallon tanks in my basement. What a fun time that was. The tanks are light until you are in a tight stair well holding the butch.

All in a days work. Now I have to fill in my underground tank.

Had some American Wagyu flank and short rib cooked that way once, best meat experience I've had to date.

What about that one time you posted the BBC wanted ad on CL?

I told you not to talk about that again!

Speaking of if you were going to listen to some douchebag play the acoustic guitar and sing, what songs would you want to hear.

Now limit the list to only ones with cool guitar parts, not vocals and share the list please.

I am a couple years away from that.

If there are no words, this I'll try first though.

That's pretty good stuff.

Tim Reynolds is a bad mother fucker.

I listen to DMB all the time, and I don't smoke weed.

Seth, correct me if I'm wrong but didn't you smoke weed regularly prior to your sobriety cycle you are currently on?

I thought you did, but I could be wrong.

Either way, at least I'm not alone.

:-)

Douchebaggy acoustic guitar song? The answer is always Wonderwall.

The song isn't supposed to be douchebaggy, the guy singing/playing it is. ;)

Had no idea what wonderwall was, recognize it once I hit play on youtube but that is awful and something guitar wise I could have played when i was 7.

Songs don't have to be acoustic, but they can't require a complete band.  I can mock the sound of something else if necessary and hell I don't even own an acoustic guitar.  I do have an old Gibson, but it is too rare to travel with and is really a plectrum not an acoustic.
