Sounds like video card. Fan on it probably shit no?

It's hot but not insanity.....

I wouldn't want my GPU that hot. It's odd that it's working so hard.

It isn't working hard...

Lol true. I'm nore saying that even if the cards fan died with your work loads it's odd it is that hot. If it doesn't have a load how is it getting so warm?

ATI cards are little furnaces though...

Fans are all spinning, temps at 40C.

How should I stress it?

3d Mark and vantage mark are awesome.

MemtestX86 is great for memory. Its a boot test though so you can't monitor live.

Prime 95 is classic CPU testing.

Ah, wow. Didn't realize tools from 95 still existed, lol. smile.png

For what we want to stress, the oldies are the best.

That mem test was the only thing that could prove a bad stick. Every other diagnostic missed it. And prime is so predictable, it's just the go to test.

Sometimes the wheel doesn't need to be reinvented.

I think you said it, but when exactly do you see the machine shut down?

Arctic silver is the shit but if the room is super hot and dry and on a stock cooler it could be at its lifespan limit....

The only two times I've managed to force it down were:

Converting 300+ pictures from Canon Raw to DNG while doing some surfing and other trivial shit in the background

Copying 500gb of data back and forth while converting some DNG to JPG files.

So both came while converting pictures, but considering that is ALL that is ever done to "work" the machine it would make sense that it causes it. I'll run some stress programs on it and watch the temps later todya.

Is there any warning or message on start up?

I would put my $ on processor is overheating, or memory has some weird critical failure.

Next guess would be the power supply. Roommate Sean and I go through an odd amount of PSUs. Not quite the insane level of drives you go through, but we murder PSUs.

Roommates birthday last Saturday so he took Monday off and treated him to dinner.

Went to Matt's bar, home of the jucy lucy.

It was better than I expected. I'm full of gas today however and it's pure onion. Wow.

3.3V rail is stable

Video card still at 102C

Fan RPM's are reported, CPU at 2250RPM

Current pull seems consistent.

Only temp change since I left is in the video card.

Up to 114C.  going to stop Prime and do 3DMark and see if I can get the video card to act up and shut me down.

Can you decrease the voltage a bit? Or core clock on video card?

Amazed I have not put my fist through the monitor.  Yay AutoCAD 2004.

I hate that shit! Nothing as boring as drawing some 3D Duct layouts...

These are steel structures, but can be almost as boring.

There is good money in it,and it can be very useful in certain applications as well..But I never could get into,And the fact that I had a million things going on when I took it did not help at all..it was just not for me I guess smile.png  I can deal with it when need be,But I do not see how someone could do it 40+ hours a week for a livinghuh2.gif

My lower back is just a mess.

Ouch....

I have been very lucky..I never really had any back problems. But I know several people that does and it seems like it would be miserable sad.png From what I understand once you have a back injury it is hard to get straightened back out...

Tramadol is shit......For that you need hydrocodone IP's will ease the pain and take down the inflammation..

That is what they give me after my shoulder surgery it works!

If you can't change you voltage..Grab some resistors and track down the current path on your pcb to said issue area....Per ohm's law you can reduce your voltage .if you do not have a user friendly bios ..you can raise the resistance feeding the current to said "Chipset"..ect...That will decrease the voltage input, for a voltage drop..Radioshack is closing so I am buying every resistor I can get my hands on.. If theirs are worthwhile for driving.
