If anybody knows anything about yard ponds I need some advice I'm a newbie at this...

I have a pond that is probably 2 feet deep in spots roughly 12 feet in diameter with several koi fish, some big some small about 10 in all I think..due to the arctic clipper that moved through it has a solid maybe 2 1/2 inch thick sheet of ice on top I tried to break it with no luck got a couple of maybe 2" holes in it is about it..I'm worried they may not make it but they are still alive as I seen them swim for there lives when I was beating on the ice..lol

Any tips? Or will they be ok with the solid sheet of ice?

thanks,

michael

They need oxygen. A pond heater would be your best bet especially if it's going to stay cold.

One of those air pumps will probably work too, but it's not ideal.

It's above freezing now..Only going to be like 39 here tonight i busted a good chunk out of it maybe a 1/8th of the diameter..the holes that I punched earlier was already froze back and it is like 45 here at the moment..

Sean, and anyone else who enjoys snow sports....

Best goggles for snowmobile/snowboard/mountaineering?

I actually need those.

I am an Oakley guy here. I have used mine in the deserts of Iraq and Kuwait, ripping on snow in NY (years ago mind you), and numerous other places.

Sean may feel differently, and as I have not experienced a MN winter, his advice is worth its weight in gold compaired to mine.

Freaking refs call a late hit on packers #70 because he threw a block and you see the Dallas defender tackle the WR after that block was thrown with no penalty on him...

Hit a rock driving in a canyon this morning. Tore a hole in my sidewall and wrecked the tire. Was a scary place to throw on the spare. A few ppl have been killed around here lately changing tires. None the less no tire shops open today so I'll be rocking the donut.
