Welcome to the IHoP v.2

Recommended Posts

Only real options atm:

2012 Jeep SRT8 - YAY! First year and a Chrysler.

BMW X5M - car bores me

BMW X6 5.0 - too slow, M too much $$

2009 Mercedes ML63 - 2 years newer and NO CHANGES. WTF Benz?!@?!@?

2007+ Trailblazer SS - coilovers, sways, brakes, FI, exhaust, aftermarket stereo, M6 seats, upgraded everything mechanical, new steering wheel, perhaps a dash

2009/2010 Escalade - FI, coilovers, sways

And I am at my wits end.

All those can tow 5k and are within acceptable range of the ML performance wise. The Caddy is a step back, but is bigger for hauling the boat and kiddies around.

ML gets my vote. Or a really tuned up escalade. But the ML is still going to be all around better I bet.

But I am so bored of my car. I HATE owning daily drivers this long.

Try driving a 94 Camry with 175K miles and a 2.2 all day every day.

Until the M5 I hadn't owned a non-Ford Galaxy as a daily driver car for more than a year. I'd almost take a step down to change.

Of course, if I really need to do all sorts of shit to make it acceptable it becomes a law of diminishing returns rather rapidly.

Sean, just open up the pocketbook and buy the Pantera.  So the kids will have to take turns for rides with you, but you'll finally have one.

If I could drive it in the snow I might.

I suppose a Gallardo with snow tires would work

That is somewhat the allure of getting a cheaper truck like the TBSS. What the company leases me afterwards could be a Pantera. I'd just keep driving the truck daily.

I am curious on your requirement to tow 5klbs when your boat weighs 6,800 so you are looking at 8k+ tow ratings, on a vehicle that is rated to tow with a 150lb driver, and a full tank of fuel and thats it, no family, gear, beer, strippers, blow, etc.

If I didn't feel like the ML would ass rape me I'd get another. EVERYTHING is god awful expensive for it though.

I don't have to tow my boat. I can easily utilize my BIL's F250 Diesel for the two trips a year it takes. The too and from launch IF I need to pull it is 30mph and 3 blocks so even with a 5k rating I am more than fine. In particular again since if you look at the weight of the boat, gas and trailer according to spec it is less than 5k. Dumbfounding smile.png

When I move though, I am buying a 2400lb snowmobile trailer and might load up to 4 600lb sleds into it. That is the real 5k. Of course, with 4 sleds I'll probably be using someone else's truck but I want to be able to.

3 will be very common. My 2 and whomever comes with. That way I always have a spare.

Why is the GL not an option?

Why is the GL not an option?

It is slow, it is huge, it is ugly, it drives like serious shit and the AMG version is WAY too much money.

Sort of like the ML 550. Such a piece of shit it's unbelievable. Actually prefer driving the Escalade which I hated. Mercedes SUV NEEDS AMG.

Seriously my biggest problem is that everything points to the Jeep and I don't want a fucking Jeep.

I am not opposed to transplant cars.

Also tickled the idea of the Sport Trac Adrenalin or building an Explorer version of it, but the interior is nearly as bad as the TB and harder to improve.

Major overhaul on the 13.

I guess we have different ideas of slow. The '11 GL550 I took out was 0-60 in under 6. Suspension wasn't great but the 2013s are being called the S Class SUV.

I would certainly scratch my head in wonder if you got a Jeep.  That is just one brand I don't understand the appeal of.

Major overhaul on the 13.

And that prices it out of consideration.

Have to lease it for $650/mo. Those are $1200.

Tell you what.  Ryan1 or I will switch you vehicles for a month, then when you get it back, it'll feel like a fricking rocket ship.
