I'd prefer a dedicated business line. Guaranteed both directions. Would pay $80-90/mo for that.

Also pretty sure I could get someone else to pay for it tongue.png

Everytime the cable company takes down their network my IP address changes. Takes a couple hours of IT & my time each time.

I just got done installing a new Honeywell universal aquastat to get a fucking error code 2! ECOM fault! Fucking thing is going back. The only thing that connects to the ECOM is the thermostat and that is brand new.

What model?

L7224U

COM wiring? Explain how you installed..

The only thing that gets wired to the ECOM on this boiler is the thermostat.

I installed it as per their diagram  for single zone connections. From everything I have been reading, it is not uncommon for these units to be bad off the shelf. Chances are I got the bad one as that is my luck.

Correct..Double check your your wiring  and post a pic for me and I will try to help. I am pretty familiar  with Honeywell.

I double checked and swapped the t stat wires with the same error. Thanks for the offer, but I hooked the old one back up for the night. I am going to return this for another tomorrow. From what I have been reading this is common with these units and that kinda scares me because it is in my inlaws house. I may just order in the original and pay the difference just for piece of mind.

They talked him into this unit because it was $30 less and they had them on the shelf.

DSL is aweful. Clear, century link, whatever. It's fucking horrible.

We use it century link at work and it's nonstop problems.

Maybe you guys will have better luck residential in Tonka.

I have nothing good to say about their services or how it works with our equipment.

Who knows if that's our shit network or their shit network, but it a horrible.

what makes it horrible?

Lost IP for the secure POS software. This month alone we have had century link out to one store 3 times. And 4 others stores once. In every situation they blamed our equipment. In one case the new equipment worked. All the rest were issues related to dropping IP and fucked up ping. We don't use ANY bandwidth either.

I would even blame our shitty network within the company more if it didn't go down in MN more than it goes down in cities who do 10-30 times the biz.

Can you use something like noip.com where you have a domain and run a client on a computer on the network that checks for ip changes and updates the domain?

12Mbps 1.5 up for $29/mo

Cable is 25Mbps down and 3 up for $60

Never happen. You simply will not see those speeds, I don't care what they say.

Mostly pissed about the cable bill. Costco is really making Direct TV seem cheap. The wife needs a bunch of channels.

I "need" the Food network and local sports affiliates for Wild Games. Outside of that I watch nothing.

I don't know anyone who has been happy switching to dish/directdirect TV.

You must not know anyone then. Leaving cable was the best thing I ever did. I have never met anyone who says otherwise. Sure, dealing with pricing can be a bit of a pain, but they always work with you in the end.

Reminds me that I need to call and threaten to cancel, I need to bring down the cost a bit more. Which will be odd because my buddy just signed up for service to get us the refer a friend discount

For instance, right now I am getting a ping of 112ms and uploads of along with downloads of so fucking slow Speedtest.net keeps erroring out.

Have you tried different browsers?

Yes. It isn't repeatable when it happens. Fine now, but I am sure in 10 minutes I'll be pissed again.

We switched routers and that was fixed. Same problem. I am having some issues with it again on things plugged into my switch, so I'm going to buy a new switch soon and see if it helps. Mine is 15+ years old. :-)

We pay like $90 a month for 60+ megs.

We use it all up at times....

Comcast is our cable company. I get 30Mbps down and 8Mbps up and home phone for 62.00 a month, just internet would have been $10 more. So for the savings I have a home phone. I know it makes no sense.

I will not give up my directv, even though I fight with them a lot over pricing.

Good experience with DirectTV then? From a home automation perspective it is WAY better for me.

I think Direct TV is awesome. My ONLY problem is after 1 year your cost basically doubles and then after 2 years I don't see any reason to stick around. Your bill goes up more, they don't give you any real discounts.

I originally considered switching to DISH and using them for 2 years. Then I would be considered a new customer at direct TV again and switch again for 2 years, rinse and repeat.

I call them up and tell them that it is bullshit and they always find another coupon to give me for 6 months to keep my bill the same.

Being German our shit is so locked down and rigid I "get" to wait on hold.

Do not try to multi task with DSL. If someone is watching Netflix, it'll freeze the whole connection if you try to get on the Internet at the same time.

That was century link about 3 years ago. Absolute pain in the ass. I'm not sure how much bandwidth it takes to game online, but if I was, nothing else would work. If it did it would kick me out of a game.

That all being said, I am contemplating switching to DSL. I NEVER game, but do use VOIP. Need a reasonable connection and am SICK of the $150 cable bill. Anyone want to talk me out of DSL?

Just don't. You are already bitching about speed. I used DSL for 3 months... FUCK THAT SHIT

Their guaranteed speed (which I have in writing, lol) is faster than what I get pretty much all of the time except during the day. When I want fast internet (ie at night) the cable takes a dump.

Happens both wired and wireless btw. Also effects all 4 pc's, phones and tablet the same.

You have a hardware issue. I can't say if it is the router or modem, but I have had the same issue several times and it required a modem or router replacement to fix.
