Because air bags are more fun.

Any idea what you'd have to pay a fabricator to jig up something to mount alternative seats?

At the moment I am assuming that I can feed any signal the seats require to them for power/heat etc. Will check that later when I measure to see how things would fit.

TBSS has offset mounting arms for the seat. The transfer case bulges in and the sheet metal is up a couple inches due to that. The X3 that I visually compared with it onsite had parallel mounts and if I used the higher side as a reference on the TBSS I gained 3.5". I only need an inch. Would be nice for once though to not have a seat where the back is all the way down and the front is up. Need some more time with a tape measure to see if I'm nuts.

Just bummed that the new Explorer has no V8. Not a fan of the last gen's interior and finding suspension hop ups is a lot more work. Navigator is ugly and I hate the interior. Ultra scared of another GM nightmare which is compounded by the fact if I own one it will have forced induction otherwise they are all way too slow.

The Jeep is an option, but it's a fucking Jeep.

Given room underneath, I would chop what you need out, and weld back up.

Sequoia option requires a custom set of springs in the rear. So it's 86'd.

That can't be cheaper than having a seat base made. I see the upgraded seats as logical anyways as the stock GM ones blow donkey dick.

I love the Navi interior.

I don't think you'd fit in the new Explorer.  My mother has one and I feel cramped driving it.

It should be pennies in comparison to having something made.

Only real options atm:

2012 Jeep SRT8 - YAY! First year and a Chrysler.

BMW X5M - car bores me

BMW X6 5.0 - too slow, M too much $$

2009 Mercedes ML63 - 2 years newer and NO CHANGES. WTF Benz?!@?!@?

2007+ Trailblazer SS - coilovers, sways, brakes, FI, exhaust, aftermarket stereo, M6 seats, upgraded everything mechanical, new steering wheel, perhaps a dash

2009/2010 Escalade - FI, coilovers, sways

And I am at my wits end.

All those can tow 5k and are within acceptable range of the ML performance wise. The Caddy is a step back, but is bigger for hauling the boat and kiddies around.

Seriously? I drove one and thought it fit nice....but wasn't paying too much attention since it was also anemic.

Except I'd be paying someone to do it.

oops, added the Saab. I get to sit in one again on Thur, although not the Aero.

If it is just a welder I need, I have one in the family. Liability wise however I'd sort of like to pay someone.

Doing a trial run as I'm considering pitching the idea of one to my boss.

I'll keep a nice little stool nearby though for 8 hours days. I do miss the big art desks we used in junior high, or my cheap drafting table when I was younger.

I was going to put mine on some hydraulics/lift to convert easily back and forth.

Other options is a fucking chair that costs more than the lift.

Headed to a cool place that gets office and home furnishings donated or picked up at deep discounts then trains kids to sell shit there. Apparently the prices are really low and I might score an old industrial built steel drafting stool.

I will let you know about it. It's my last dig effort to buy something nice before I just buy something to get me by online.

ML gets my vote. Or a really tuned up escalade. But the ML is still going to be all around better I bet.

Then there are the million dollar questions.

Would a TBSS with FI be that much quicker and more fun than an SRT8 jeep?

If I prefer the way an X6 drives can I live with only the 5.0 or would the X6M make me happier.

Can I drive an ugly land barge with a cadillac logo on it?

Is a mini-van with a Saab logo and an Olds interior enough to make me vomit.

Are any of the above worse than having the same car for another 3 years.

But I am so bored of my car. I HATE owning daily drivers this long.

If I get the TBSS cheap enough the lease will pay for it completely in two years so I can more quickly get another car. If I go mod crazy it'll take three.

I didn't know you were motivated to change just for change. That makes more sense now why this is a tough choice.

I think the TB sucks. But maybe I just wasn't in a nice one. My buddy with the charged caddy was a fucking hell of a good time. Again he had suspension done too and some other crap. But it was a lot of fun feeling that yacht roar down the road. Not a complete waste on a curve.... but not at all confident like an M3 lol. It was quite "masculine" for a big blue truck.

If I could have any truck, I would turn my expy into a quick offroader. I couldn't make it a trophy truck, but as close as possible would be my ideal all around machine. Mine has the interior, the exterior, and just makes me happy all over.

Just buy a Mercedes sprinter van with a diesel.

....and don't tell me it's not sporty, Sabine Schmitz doesn't seem to have any problems in a Ford transit van:
