I love getting you guys all frothy over my P car love.

I can't help it. <3 them P cars.

No offense, but fuck Porsche and their owners. I had one in the shop with an EVAP leak a few weeks back. Cheesy leak, required engine R&R for repair. He couldn't choke up the $2000 bill.

Seriously?

Was it a Porsche or a Beamer you worked on six months ago where you fixed the A/C duct work with some plastic tubing and the OEM part was like $600?

EVAP?

Anyway, he sounds like a knob. Maybe most P car owners are. They want the best performance, but won't cough up for Italian's so they feel everything should be cheep....

I don't know. I love the cars. Inside and out.

The new M3 was pretty special, and a slightly tuned E60 M5 also made me happy...... But no other car was as fun to drive as the 911.

Anymore than a 285 looks dumb on that truck for street use

Not if he pulls in the spacing. He will gain an inch width for the same stance.

So in reality, if he pulls the wheel in an inch, and shrinks the width of the tire 10MM, he will effectively shave ~1.25" off the stance.

I know someone who has 285/45/22 on there 2006 silverado, and it looks pretty good. That's a 2006 silverado with a 2" drop in the front and 4" in the back, with 285/45/22

Mon/Tue I'll post pics of 285's all the way around. That is what the Esky has.

As a rule of thumb tire section width changes 1cm per inch of rim change.

Tool show I went to a few months ago was killer. I am ready for another.

Is that what they're calling gay pride parades now?

Yes it's the new code word. Bring on the rainbows baby!

You know how I know your gay? You knew the code.

Lol

Back in my day we just knew if another fella was gay if he wanted to suck your Dick without paying him.

Kids today and their gay codes.

So.... 8 hours at Versailles was a bit much. We may not be up to doing anything tomorrow. The wife's shoulders are bad. Left is a rosey tomatoe hue, but her right is ruby red like rare prime rib.

Poor girl.

Exactly what I'm trying to figure out is how much a want to pull the stance in.

Unfortunately my lift is a knuckle lift so the biggest limiting factor is the upper control arm interference with the tire. Currently with the 16" wheel and 4.5" back spacing (I'm pretty sure at least) I have about 0.5" of clearance. I just read somewhere that you only gain +0.25" going to 17"+, but if I thin out the tire I should gain a bit more.

I assume you mean with 1" of rim width?

You assumed correctly.

I assumed you wouldn't try fitting a 16" tire on a 17" wheel.

Haha, I just wanted to make sure you didn't mean that a 285 on a 16" rim would be 1cm wider than a 285 on a 17" rim (assuming both tires are that rim size :P)

With aspect ratio tires, the sizes can vary based on the tread pattern. Most manufacturers will give you sectional width measurement on a specific rim width. Use the formula to determine the tread width of a tire on different width rims.

As far as what would fit best, I would be finding a tire fitment chart for the vehicle. Or looking at a forum for that vehicle, to determine what others have done and what worked.

I am a bit tired of working on vehicles.  I have had the Mark torn apart to clean and fix the speedo for months.  I have not had time to do anything to it.    Coming home from Ft. Wayne today, my battery light comes on.  i didn't have my meter and couldn't risk going to work, so I pull the alt out of the Mark, stick it in the Town Car and it works.  So, then I head over to my parent's house to grab the alt off the spare engine I have so I can put it back on the Mark, and the damn battery light comes on.  I check the alt and battery and both are good.  Go for a ride and the light comes and goes.  I get back, jack it up to start following wires and I notice the boot is missing off the LCA ball joint.  While I'm looking at this, I notice the inner sidewall is showing cord.  Next thing I see is a severely degraded sway bar bushing.  Of course, I have NO time to do any of this shit.

So I called my guy at Ford to schedule a test drive for a Focus ST and of course they don't have any and aren't sure if they can find one close.  I look for a used on and they're more than buying new.  Makes no damn sense at all.  I do some more searching for it's wicked step brother, MazdaSpeed3 and happen to find one a couple towns East, so barring some BS at work Monday, I'm going to go Zoom Zoom.

I got to test drive one same day back home, tons a fun but a bit bumpy and over priced IMO. For a fully loaded ST you're talking Subie money, and nearly Mustang GT money.

It's a bit ludicrous IMO.
