As for the Tab. Curious on boot time and if you can connect multiple peripherals. Of course if you installed Gmaps that would interest me as well...

Don't do anything just for me though.

I haven't figured out how to disable the login yet so I have to put in a pin/password when it turns on, but boot time including putting in 4 digit pin is 10 seconds. There might be some edit to the registry or some program to disable the login, that would bring it down to ~5 seconds.

It's only got one usb port so you'd have to use a usb hub to split it up.

Gmaps app is legit, works well, but now that I think about it the surface doesn't have cellular internet or GPS, so if you can't get it internet somehow then it would be worthless for maps, and without GPS it wouldn't be "nav."

And mostly curious on the hub. Realize it is only one. Most tablets won't do a USB AND charge at the same time which makes them useless as headunits. Timur fixed that on the N7.

I will say I don't use the tiles screen much, but the swipe gestures for apps is pretty sweet.

It doesn't charge through USB, charges through a separate port, to power hungry.  I've run a USB bluetooth mouse, thumb drive, and memory card all off the same USB port with a little 4? port hub on my Surface RT, and do it regularly.

I'm not sure if you can charge via usb or not, it has it's own proprietary connection (a copy of Apple's magnetic power connection where you get the cable near the power input and it pulls itself in). So yes you can charge it while using the usb port. It also has bluetooth. Aside from having a usb cable plugged in routing to a hub in the dash, you can also get something like this: http://www.amazon.com/Juiced-Systems-Microsoft-Surface-Adapter/dp/B00C7AQXQQ/ref=pd_sim_sbs_pc_1 if you have the space.

Thanks for the info earlier on it. These things are awesome.

Also, my uncle has an infection commonly known as "flesh eating disease".

WTF!?!?!? Go out to pull in the ice house and gets a brutal infection from a cut on his elbow!

That's crazy. How are the antibiotics working?

Penicillin and cleocin. Aunt said it's working, however he is really sick. Conscious but not good.

I'm so Fucking lost with buying a laptop.

:-(

Teh suck.

What do you need it for? Any gaming or intense processing?

I will probably spend more time gaming on it, but I "need" it for processing.

Mostly photos, a little video.

Hope it works fast.

Then I have no suggestions for high end laptops. You could always get a macbook pro. adhd.gif

I'm leaning towards the Toshiba Qosmio x70.

It gets a bad wrap for overheating, but apparently all notebooks with the 770m do. I also read a review where it gets better FPS. Not that I really give a fuck, but more of a "future proofing" for the next couple years as software changes.

It comes with Photoshop and elements free.

The only downsides are

17.3 inch is huge

Questionable heat issues pumps enough heat it can make your mouse hand uncomfortable from some reviews

I will probably have to buy a regular adobe suite anyway

No SSD at the $1300 price

Up side is

Cheep for everything you get

17.3 for cheep and will help with photo work

Apparently really quiet

Seth, do you have access to Mercedes schematics? I'm looking for the cylinder order for their OM642 3.0L V6 diesel engine. It's used in the Sprinter vans.

The dealership swapped out one of the glow plugs but I'm not sure if they did the right one...

Mercedes, yes. Sprinter no. What similar year and vehicle Mercedes (truck or car) will this be in?

FWIW the head that sits furthest forward will be bank 1.

Vaper's tongue FTL. Having to wail on some Kringles Kurse juice to freshen my taste buds. I have been fucking with my Aqua trying to get the best wick and coil setup. It provides so much vapor and killer throat hit and it is too warm IMO, but it is lacking in flavor right now, and from what I have read it is supposed to be the king shit of tank attys. It is my lowest load build yet, coming in at .6 ohms. All this vape is laying my taste buds flat. I realized today that my Nimbus was tasting weak. I have that thing dialed in to the juices I am using in it (bubblegum and blueberry cotton candy). So that sucks. The Kringles is good, but not really amazing. I just want to get my buds back to where I can enjoy my sweet candy juices.

On a positive note, I got my switch magnets today for my Nemesis. They are factory silver plated magnets. Makes the switch actuation much more linear and smooth. It has almost zero mechanical feel to it. They are seriously strong little fuckers. I can set my Nemmy on the table with my Aqua (my heaviest atty) on it and it will not actuate the switch without the lock set. I have read you can stack the magnets to increase tension. I bought 3 sets, so if I decide to, I can. But for right now I am digging the short throw and tension the single mags provide. Plus, I know that they are so strong they can shatter if they snap together. Reassembling the switch with the magnets is a chore, I couldn't imagine trying to assemble it with additional tension.

Sharp drywall screw on a screw gun that I have to use force to drive, or a flat smooth bolt I can just thread right in by hand . IDK which one I should pick?

T-nuts bother me when they fall off or when the sub cutout isn't much smaller that the mounting hole diameter. If you want to go deeper, how many times is a sub removed/installed? biggrin.png

With all that in mind, I've used T-nuts on the RLi enclosure laugh.png

Drywall screws work great for most install's but heavier subs I prefer a T-nut. It sucks either way if the cutout is to big or screw holes are off center. tongue.png

my subs are 75lb and held up in a wall just fine with spax screws

Yeah I use the huge spax wood to masonry screws.
