Welcome to the IHoP v.2

Recommended Posts

2 days and counting from vacation from work, the forums, my 2 year old and everything else. Time to drive around Scandinavia in an XC60 enjoying the sites and restaurants. Made some wicked reservations, but my pocket book is already complaining.

Lucky SOB.

So, is it possible for me to say I want it to get loud and sound good?

'Loud' is a subjective term. 'Sounding good' is subjective as well. EVERYONE has certain tones that they cannot hear as well as others. That being said, what may sound good to person A may sound like a 300 pound lineman farting on a snare drum.

Study up on tuning, on frequency adjustment, time alignment and shit there of.

As for 'loud' try to find what makes a stereo system loud to you and go from there. To some people its from the vocals, others want the bass to be loud. Unfortunately you wont get both. Its a give and take, hence no such thing as sql.

O.k., I think it is starting to click. I always have to remember the term subjective. I think it will be better for me to say that in the future I want some lows with the appropriate mids and highs to keep up with it. Only thing that is holding me back is finding a great deal on a low mileage suburban. Bass will be 2 x 18"s. mids highs to match.

Oh, don't get me wrong I fuckin' love deviled eggs.  Just never ever once thought of looking for a recipe for them before.  Now you make me want to look for fun variations. :)

Made some last week where I used Avacado instead of mayo and added mexican flare. Good stuff.

So if a person wants sq or spl, or sql, what is wrong with using these terms? I don't want to get flamed in the future when I describe my goals...I always thought a system fall into one of these categories. Please explain what's wrong with it???

You are under the assumption that there is only black and white. An audio system that is designed to reproduce music as accurately possible cannot be "loud". An audio system that is designed to reproduce music as loudly as possible cannot be "accurate". Audio systems, just like everything else in this world, are predominately shades of grey; there is very little black and very little white.

Meh. A good sounding system should be able to get loud as hell. Keeping everything sounding good means not really pushing it, so you should have a ton of head room. If you set up an accurate system you should keep the drivers and the electronics as underworked as possible. This should equate to a ton of extra power and a ton of extra driver on tap.

It's also ironic that most of the setups geared for SPL (supertweeters and pa mids) sound like shit, and if they'd actually take some cues from what people consider "SQ" than they'd end up with something sounding a TON better, and still pretty fucking loud. Win win.

Head is everyone's friend

Damn right.

I should get some for making these schmucks so much money. A tech from the Honda dealer told me and the manager of this store that he was going to have his boss head hunt me

Oddly enough he is the only legit customer I didn't get to buy today.

Thank you everyone who has served.

Everyone who knows someone who was lost, we honour those that gave a final sacrifice. They committed themselves to their fate to allow us to choose our own. Despite our clever plans and our designs for our future, we are in the end lucky to be able to make these schemes.

Thank someone who served, tell a family member of someone who is serving or lost someone that you are thankful for the freedoms we have.
