The truth is not so good.

Why not man?

J

Well.... it really comes down to one dbag. But I am a little tired of people like him.

Before I even started I needed to fax something in and it wouldn't go through at a kinkos. So I went to a store to send it in. The guy there was aloof and an ass when I asked how to use the multi fax. I didn't want to break it by just pushing buttons. He menioned he was a trainer and that moment I prayed I didn't get him.

First 3 days... I got him.

On day one he held me back saying I was influencing the new guy to my old selling techniques. I told him I specifically tried not to and felt horrible and asked if he could tell me when I did that. He said he couldn't remember a specific time but I did it a bunch of times and that it was wrong. Great trainer right?

Then some other dumb shit. I asked him to confirm the date he said yes, then I sent an email to the boss... wrong date. He said I was late when I wasn't.

Make a negative a positive. Not the time to get upset with things yet. Don't want to sour the experience in the beginning, let that happen later.

It's tough, but just use it as an experience to be "trained" on what NOT to do, versus to do. Take notes and resolve that internally. Otherwise it'll bog you down.

And remember, more than half the trainers train because they can't sell. He's an insecure pussy.

I should clarify.... I was late. By less than a minuite. Then he mentioned we needed to not be early or late and he needed extra time in the store. We talked about how we have 5 min to punch in etc etc. So I arrived within the 5 min and he called me out on being late again....

Well the other FNG never even showed up for day 3 of training. My guess is he didn't get a good deal of confidence from the trainer. He kept asking if they woukd fire him if he couldn't sell right away.

Anyway I think I am done with that trainer, and either way, he is moving to Tucson soon I believe so I hope to leave that drama shit behind. If it is indicative of the culture and environment I want nothing to do with it.

I will just hurt for a B to B job where I can network and build relationships and train people on product. That is where I shine the most, and what I am best suited for.

If you realize he is an asshat now, others already know it.

That is my assumption also. I was the old trainer and did the job for longer. Obviously under a different branded technique, but the experience I have is pretty rich. This job is a bit of a joke job. Not that it doesn't pay well and I don't take it seriously...... more that the money is TOO good for lack of talent needed. It is a joke in that it is so easy to make good money for not a lot of effort.

MN is a tough market, way worse than any other place, but there are still guys in 6 figure land. Not too shabby for the small amount of work. In the home and garden or home remodeling expo, one guy made about 22k in 3 days or so....

I kind of doubt it. I think it's personal, and he just got the manager/trainer position.

Either way he will be gone soon. I got a customer to fall asleep on a bed while I romanced his wife and the guy couldn't even close the deal. They waited some 20 min just to talk to a sales guy too.

But really Sean, as we have talked about, this is a job that will make money and make it easier to get into another job. Maybe I will take promotions here, but most likely I will use it to find a better fit. The down time is also enough that I can learn some tech or business degree and use that as leverage also.

Just make sure it is personal and one direction. Go out of your way to oblige without being ridiculous about it. Make it hard for him to be a dick. Make it a game. Win.

Best reference, best opportunities come when you are already being selfless.

Plus with an attitude like that when the shit happens you are expecting it and that helps make it easier to swallow. It will get noticed in a positive light.

Yup. I am even debating not discussing it with the District manager (my boss). This guy will probably be moving out of state.

I don't want to be looked at as the bitchy new dude, however he did cos the company a new recruit.

I'm over the personal hurt now but that night when he held me back it made me feel so bad I almost called the DM to quit myself. I just realized that one dbag who slipped through to be a manager is not reflectant of the whole market or company.

I was suprised how highly rated amongst employees they are. Again MN is a completely different animal. The guys in the south have a much busier but much more profitable and easier time.

Got some knock er loose. Hope to handle that o2 sensor and wifes oil nut.

I know on hardened stuff you need imact sockets.... but on an oil pan plug do you think I will be ok using regular sockets?

It started rounding over and before I use the vice grips and a hammer I thought I could at least try it.

Whatcha think guys?

Oh, as for the dick guy, I did kind of kill him with kindness afterwords and I don't think I will ever deal with him as anything but an equal. Only 3 days with 4 trainers is what it sounds like.

I always use a half inch drive socket with long handle wrench on stuff like that. I have seen way to many people ruin plugs and wheel studs with an impact wrench. Was the plug already rounded over?

It happened when I was doing pull ups off the wrench trying to get it loose.

:-)

It slipped a bit and then rounded just a bit near the base.

I should just buy a full set of impact sockets and swivels...

And that cordless Makita impact wrench. It would be nice... and quiet.

A foot long pipe over the handle can be a beautiful thing.

Yeah.... that didn't work. Even with my fat ass hanging from it.

Probably vice grip and hammer time. After I spray with some knock em loose.
