Ryan, Seth, who would you use for coil on plugs? I tried to clean mine out, but it's a lost cause and the missfire just got worse. The truck isn't in protect limp mode, but she is not happy. I have stopped driving her until I c an get a new set.

Last time I used a company called Global and they did just fine, until the radiator hose puked all over. I can't find the kit for my truck anymore. I am HORRIBLE at using ebay so maybe I am missing it.

I found these also, I don't know if there is anything to a "performance" CoP of if it is flim flam, but it's the second best price I have found so far. The Accell CoP's are 200.

OEM MotorCraft only. They are the only ones that seem to hold up and actually work. Go to any forum and you will see the stories of people who swayed from MotorCraft and how they just ended up spending more in the long run. You'll also find some interesting reads on the "performance" coils.
That is so interesting. On 2 of the truck forums I am on they almost all used the globals.

I will look more into the "performance" thing. I didn't understand how they could be any better, but I wouldn't have expected them to be worse.

Motorcraft plugs are nearly twice the price. So for a set of 8 I'm looking at nearly 400 bucks.

Call Tousley Ford in White Bear Lake. I ordered some last year at $37 each.

Holy shit! Great price. Thanks.

Drill holes through the door panel when you glass over it, otherwise it won't have much adhesion.

Actually I am covering some big ass holes.

more like this

not the best pic but the idea is to drill a ton of holes so that the fg "sows" together the panel.

Yeah, I understood what he meant, but I found no need to do it.

Why the hell did you order parts from MN?

LoL

Because they are the best place to buy OEM Ford parts. Cheap, quick, and honest.

First time doing fiberglass work. Waiting for the resin to harden.

Fun times :D

My first experience with fiberglass sucked

The layer of "wax" found on top of a laminate is not actually wax it's uncured resin. Oxygen inhibits the curing process so you get this goop on top. Peel Ply can be used to prevent this.

Can I ask where you got your information?  I have been using FG for years and had a very in depth discussion with a vendor many moons ago about the differences between resins, and was informed there is wax in ester resins that floats to the top to cover the uncured layer of resin left behind.    Im not saying you are wrong, but this is contrary to everything I've ever heard about ester resins.

Strangely enough I have read what Quentin says today. And I too got the same information about wax from my supplier.

I do all layers in one go (or as much as possible), cold mix and it turns out nice. I've been thinking today about building a fiberglass hood for the Jeep, although I see way too much work to be worth it other than for cool factor.

Finally find an un-molested original XXX........sadly bills trump the desire for audio.

Bottom plate matches boob cone but I have never seen them with a black basket. Do want...

Seems expensive though smile.png

Agreed. I'm trying to sell some of my extra car audio over today as he leaves tonight for 6 weeks. Got a price agreed to just gotta get the spare cash. Bills and savings take a good chunk of the check, so selling spare stuff pays for fun stuff.

I learned my basic fiberglass skills from Brian Schmitt ,back 15 years ago, who in turned spent many years learning from a master boat builder.

Most over the counter resins do have a wax additive that aids sanding. However I use a industrial polyester resin used in boat construction that is completely wax free and you still get that film ontop that builds up on sandpaper if peel ply isn't used.

But as the other poster said this can be confirmed with the manufacturer.
