What resin are you using?

I've no idea. :D

Father had a big bucket from other projects, I didn't buy it to know. The mixing instructions were told to me.

Does it smell really bad?  If so, it's polyester.  It's a general layup type material.  If you can afford it, you will like working with epoxy much better.   It's expensive, but more stable, predictable, doesn't stink, and holds up best to heat and chemicals.

FYI, if using the polyester or vinylester, there is a layer of wax once cured, so you have to sand this before applying another layer or finishing with paint, etc. .

Doesn't smell bad. Has an accelerator and a hardener in bottles to be added to it. There is this older fella close by that does all kinds of fiberglass orders, from whom I got the % for the ingredients. Didn't tell me about sanding between layers, so it might be epoxy. After you add the accelerator it's kinda purple.

Anyway, the bucket is huge, so I am stuck with it for a while. For a first timer it was a great experience, such a nice material to work with. Next thing might be body work.

The layer of "wax" found on top of a laminate is not actually wax it's uncured resin. Oxygen inhibits the curing process so you get this goop on top. Peel Ply can be used to prevent this.

I am going to go check on my doors, one floor under is the bucket of resin, will check for a name.

Can I ask where you got your information?  I have been using FG for years and had a very in depth discussion with a vendor many moons ago about the differences between resins, and was informed there is wax in ester resins that floats to the top to cover the uncured layer of resin left behind.    Im not saying you are wrong, but this is contrary to everything I've ever heard about ester resins.

Thank you, GM. The new SS looks good, on paper anyway...

I prefer the looks of the Tauras SHO myself, but I like the numbers of the SS better. Except I haven't seen weight yet

Found my ghost.  Short on the one wire I didn't change.  Figures.  Boo on the original owner not fusing anything.  WTF.  Almost like it was a Ski Doo or somethin'

What's the wire for?

That is the best part.  Nothing. Something used to be connected to it.  Was tucked up into the run for the bars so when I cleaned up the wiring I thought it ran somewhere.
Wonder if it was OEM, or added for something aftermarket. Either way that's kinda funny, previous owner: "ya I'll just tuck it up right here with a bit of electrical tape around the end and call it good."
nothing on my sled is or. Not the motor, the harness, cluthces, cdi. .....nothing

Sports involve athletic talent.  This is a hobby, not a sport.  No athletics involved.  Hell, sometimes, no talent is needed.

so fishing is a sport but usaci is not ?

fishing is more of a sport than baseball.
