Sean do not bring up the 85 1.2.

You see what I do with the 6D and a 50mm 1.2!  If I can make a female flattering with that I feel the 85 will be cheating.

It also may find its way on the body so much it would make the 50mm and the whitey less needed.

If it wasn't 2k and I would still need a zoom for sports I would own it.

I turned off traction on Helga today and slid around the lot.

I feel like we almost need a camera subsection, or at least a dedicated topic.

I would love to upgrade my bodies actually.  A 1Dx and maybe a 5DR or S would be nice if I was going to go all out.

I would be happy as all hell to have a 7Dii and one of those high rez 5Ds though.  And <1/2 the price....  Stupid sexy 1Dx

I use...

Canon 6D.  Its full frame and was better than the 5diii in low low light.  I purchased that for Rome and never looked back.  Best value for me.

I have a t4i and its the backup.  I really want a 7Dii for this body, i just cant justify it as I almost NEVER use that camera.  I hand that to my assistant,( wife usually) and sometimes just have them take filler on auto if they struggle.  Ill also make that person do the family portraits if I can swindle it. Then I take shots of people on the sneek.

16-35 f2.8 Canon L 2.8

24-70 f2.8 Tamron as they had VR at the time.  Its the hardest to use lens but sometimes the color rendition is sometimes only beat by the 50mm

70-200 is ii f2.8 Canon L. This lens is the best lens made.  Its so good I sometimes just use it instead of a more appropriate focal length because the pictures are always amazing and they make me look like a god. Its also heavy. Yes you need the IS and yes the version ii is worth the upgrade.  It's better than the sum of its parts especially if your subject moves at all.  The focus speed, color, and consistant images alone are worth it.  Even if the zoom range wasnt my bread and butter it would still be a great lens.  I wish there was a 24-70 that was 1/20th as effective in use.  I keep a 2x extender and it makes that lens twice as valuable.

My other baby is the 50mm f1.2.  This is a magic lens.  I use it to make the most incredible images, and in low light it's such a beast.  I never feel as confident as when I have that lens with me.

Thats it.  Thats my bag.  A couple flashes and thats what I roll with.  Photographers love the 3+1 system because it gives you a balance between f stop and zoom.  Any more variable zoom and you have to have higher f-stop with current tech.  If you switch to a prime for wider f-stop you have to pay way too much attention to where you are for dynamic situations.  Also if you start cropping an image shot at 1.2 its going to be really lucky if it looks at all usable.

People also give me money so that i dont miss them sucking face with their partner in front of friends and family so i have to be more urgent and less staged that you would in your livingroom with lighting you can alter however you want.

Thats the insight i can give you Mike.  I get the pictures I like and people continue to pay me more than I ask for their pictures.

Goodbye Carrie.  One of my heros.  I always said the movies should have been about her.  She dealt with more and whines less than every dude in the movies.

Also, space metal bikinis. <3

Rest well princess.

Should I pay a dime for a body with an 18-135 Was thinking I could sell it if need be if it made the camera cheap.

I would still get the 50 1.4. Don't want to buy something with the 18-135 if I can't sell it. It would be cool to compare the kit lense at 50 vs the prime at 50.

Buy it with a kit lens but don't pay anymore.  You'll have a really hard time selling it for more than $125.

Hey now.  You can take an ok pic with the kit lens!

Its just really hard.  The STM kit i got with the t4i was amazing for video. Seriously great stuff.

Amazing for video?  All of your other lenses are better than it for video.

And your hard comment is right.

You can achieve bokeh with a pos kit....but you need the background WAY away from the target.

The other hard part is that you will never focus on what you want, your images will be soft no matter how hard you try to get the shutter speed faster, and generally you will have to dump 10 pictures for every good one.

For all those reasons, I see cheap glass as a detriment that shouldn't exist.  If I had to shoot 10 pictures of my boys to get a good one I'd give up the hobby.  Much nicer to focus on learning how to frame and be a better photographer than to struggle getting the lens to do anything right.

Waiting to hear about shutter count from a guy and could end up getting a body for under $400.

After that I need to grab the 50. I'm thinking I can get one for ~$230 in excellent condition. I'm finding new ones though for $280ish so I'm not sure if I'll just pay up to ensure a clean piece of glass.

I wish that companies would try to educate their customers instead of pandering to their ignorance.

Ignorant consumers equal mass sales.

I know, and I have to remind myself that sometimes the ignorant leaves great values in the market that I get to capitalize on.
