I don't see the problem. Aren't you using the stockers with winter shoes? Renders the issue of salt/chrome/aluminum moot.

Can't, stockers are shot. Winter shoes will be on another set of wheels.

Even without the salt, chromed aluminum is not a forever material. That bugs me.
