And I'll be damned if they don't have a perfect spot for my pistol with easy access.

Can't believe I have a son going into 3rd grade.

Fortunately my youngest will be a junior this year.

Anyone using Linux and needing to do backups, check out duplicity and deja-dup. Super simple to backup to another drive, windows share, webdav, ssh, ftp, or Amazon S3--also supports PGP.

Don't know what about 4/5 of those acronyms are.

Is it a file comparator or a fresh backup each time?

You'd have to do landscape though instead of portrait.

Unless you program the ac controls as well. If I keep the Caddy for a long time I will do that, but atm the complexity of creating a GUI that outputs to GM's CAN isn't really a high priority.

Most frontends don't really work so well in portrait mode as my dash is a bit unique compared to most cars. I expect that will change though over the next few years.

You are going to cry when you see how easy mine is going to be. Will post pics as soon as the screen gets here. Actually want some finishing ideas, but until I mount it not sure yet what I have to finish. First crack will just be black paint, but longer term I'll probably wrap the whole dash and then clean up/integrate the mount even more. May go bigger on the screen then though as right now I am not willing to cut the dash to take time to do something. Go fast goodies first, PC though is gauges so I want that first.

You have to realize that I know jack shit about computers.  Pretty much everything you guys talk about that has anything to do with computers, I am completely clueless on.   I am not too interested in them either, so it's not worth it to me to even bother learning that stuff.

Compares data so you can restore from any date.

Webdav is Microsoft's version of having network folders on a webserver, but MS sucks dick.

Ftp basic protocol for transferring files to server, but the password is sent cleartext across the network as are the files so it's not good for sensitive data.

File transfer through ssh is slower than ftp but it's encrypted so the days being transferred can't be read.

I think amazon s3 is cloud storage.

PGP is an encryption so the backups can be encrypted and saved on cloud storage and the data is still relatively safe.

Amusingly I'd be backing up my Windows machine with Linux if I did that. At the moment I just do an image everytime I do anything major to it and then use Allways Sync to verify updated files once I update a bunch.

Indeed. My car would be boosted already if I didn't have to shop for pc shit.

Getting one to boot nearly instantly, restart playing whatever I was listening too, integrating with my phone, working on a touchscreen, having crossovers, access to the Radio, Pandora etc.

Reminds me I still need to order the PAC steering wheel interface or something similar. Just need to grab that part of the CAN easily and convert it into any keystroke or resistive output and I'm golden.

I think there are a few area's I could give Sean a run for his money. Most anything in the kitchen, or mechanically not so much. The only exception being meatballs and sauce, or chicken wings. Those I have complete confidence in myself with.

Hope so. I try to learn something new every time I step in the kitchen.

As do I. Last time had me become furious with my cheap knives.

I will puchase new ones sooner or later.

Not new ones, but new ONE. Start with the one you use the most. Hell even if you were spending $300 I'd spend 70%+ on one knife. 99% of my cuts are with a 10" Chef's knife. The next most important knife is a bread knife, but a $10 works. Can't cut bread with a chef's knife. After that a paring knife, but I do most paring work with my chef's knife...wouldn't recommend starting out that way though.
