I want an MRI, shit is getting worse and not better.  Muscles that spasm are linked to my sciatic nerve which isn't a good thing.

Go see a neurologist. They can also do nerve conduction testing for you that may help more than just an MRI will.

Also see your PCM (or PCP) for the referral. Makes the insurance shit much easier to get thru.

J

My insurance is easy.  They cover everything with zero deductible and no copay. :)

Figure I should start with an orthopedic surgeon or sports doc.

Well shit then. Go for broke with insurance like that.

J

at physical therapy .... Doh

Just got done grilling and I have learned two lessons.

1) NEVER ask the woman to pick up steak. She craps out and buys cheap shitty cuts cause it's what they have.

2) NEVER get meat from Wal*Mart. If this was the best ribeye or serloin they had, this is fucking pathetic. While it is a different cut than I normally buy, this is beyond night and day difference.

Perhaps buying nice strip steaks of 'grass fed no hormone, no antibiotic' steak has made me a steak snob.

J

Then up the ante from the grass fed crap and fine corn fed beef.  WAY better.  Grass fed is a tree hugger idiots idea to ruin the taste of beef.  Not saying you can't have a good piece of grass fed beef as how you treat the animal is as important as the diet, but if the same animal was fed corn it would be WAY yummier.

I do feel sorry for you all South of IA.  Steaks get funkier the further away from the Midwest you get.

What does the price difference look like? Also do the antibiotics and hormones truly effect the taste and texture much?

I only ask because knowing my luck I will find corn fed beef that does not offer that.

J

All unrelated.

Price for corn fed is cheaper, thank the stupid tree huggers for making shitty taste more money. Hormones and antibiotics can be associated with either corn or grass. Normally those are feed lot beasts and they never taste as good. Grass fed feed lots exist as well.

Take a vacation for 4 days and go check into the Mayo Clinic.

That is my first suggestion, but Sean probably won't miss the work for it.

I've got bills to pay, eh?

I've been on the lookout for a quarter or a half. Any idea what it should cost for a half? Also, how much freezer space do you need?

I gotta go to Racine WI next month. Any worthwhile places to visit? Only in town for 2 days for training, so it is not a big visit.

Using round numbers.  Steer = 1600lb live.  Auction at $1.35/lb ~ $2200.  Dresses above 60% ~1000lbs of meat.

1/2 is 500lbs and should be $1100+proc+some retail.  The latter two depend on where you shop and how much grinding and sausage making you have done.  A half will fill a pretty large chest freezer.

Problem for me is that is 400lbs of burger and 100lbs of meat including roasts & steak.  Not enough steak to make it worthwhile IMO.  In particular when if you aren't ultra crafty the processing will get you big time.  Likelihood also exists that you will have someone hack up the steaks.

I'd much rather go to a butcher/farmer and buy what burger I want and a whole short loin.

Where my logic fails is if you know a farmer and the product is way better than feed lot stuff.  Then who gives a fuck about that much burger.  Give some away, it's yummy.

I need to empty my freezer myself to make room for a steer.

*I may have undestimated the prices.  Old raunchy milk cows are going for $.90/lb live right now though which means nice beef is going to be spendy.

**And of course, now you all know why to NEVER buy beef in a tube.

Been steady from my source for the past few years by the pound. It is from Amsterdam. MK Ultra is the nicest stuff I have every seen, and the winner of the '13 cannibus cup. It comes in big wood crates, big, fluffy, sticky, stinky buds. Just incredible.

My step brother is in Chicago. He's an attorney with the the EPA. I'd rather steer clear of that area.
