My best buddy turns 8 years old today and I promised him a fun day out at an Orioles game. Time to start planning.

Going to have to change your plans as fun and baseball cannot go together.

 

Name another sport aside from soccer that has encompassed the globe and spawned professional leagues and billions of fans like baseball has.

 

 

Auto racing.

Bike racing

Shooting.

Hockey.

Shall I go on?

Actually the real answer is none. Billions means significantly more than 1 and that percentage of the globe is not a fan of baseball. The world is getting dumber though so maybe someday.

Anyways, all the sports I mentioned, aside from shooting, perhaps, have met your criteria.

 

FWIW, I like hockey, and I like to shoot (although competitive shooting isn't my thing), but none of these sports aside from hockey means shit to me.

On the sport argument I will simply say this.

Every night I went to the market in Baghdad, or into town while in Kuwait two sports were on Tv. Soccer or cricket. This is with people of all decents, and all paying serious attention.

Shooting?  A "sport?"  Maybe in the technical sense, but no.

 

Bike racing?  The Tour is the only significant event of it's sport. 

 

 

Baseball has reached the world over.  Anyone can pick up a stick, hit the ball and run around the bases.  It's played, (professionally, semi-pro, amateur, and fun) anywhere and everywhere.  Ever seen a picture of a kid in South America or Africa playing hockey, shooting, riding a bike?    Baseball, like soccer is universally adored for it's fun and simplicity.
