After all, what is a smoker if not a wood fired oven?

The Primo tis made in the USA!

The Primo has a little less thermal mass, a little bigger surface area, cost's a little less and can be ordered via the internet. Plus supporting jobs in the US of A.

Difference in weight between the BGE and the Primo is negligible at best, IMO.

Looks like a no brainier Peng. Unless you can think of a reason one would be better. I am not familiar with any of the features on either brand. ie gasket setup, accessories, etc. So may be missing something?

Just as many accessories as the BGE, also.

Functionally, there is no perceptible difference between the two.

While the BGE's are cast in Mexico, they're sent to Georgia for packaging and distribution.

Been a long time since I went over thermodynamics, but I would say that the ceramic used in the Egg and similar is an insulator. Ceramic insulation can be among the best, when porous even more so. The egg uses space diamonds if you buy into the reading material that comes with it. LoL

It can also be made to be conductive, but for this instance that isn't so. Not the point right?

Anyway, the ceramic build, tight seal, and great airflow add up to efficiency. Helps keep moisture in the food because of its high efficiency.

If you add a great controller to it, it's got to be the best oven made.
