Induction has more control than gas, but once again, comes at a price of not being able to select your pan material.

I use 99% cast iron so I would be ok. But if you have a copper pot, your fucked.

Taking the sled out eh Sean?

Fuckin' awesome, only I am surprised he is toting an Arctic Cat.

The more talking i hear about cooking and kitchens, the more I want a house with a good kitchen.

Additionally can ANYONE tell me any reason why an electric stove is better than gas? Energy savings is not a reason.

J

Cheap gas is worse than good electric. Energy savings can be a HUGE difference. Induction is also electric and stays cool, safe and with the right pans is as fast if not faster than gas. Gas is also very dependent on good cookware. It is much easier to cook with shitty pans on electric as by nature the heat is more even. Once you have a good pan you take that BS out of the equation.

As with car stereos asking what is best or better is futile, describing what you need and expect out of something will point in the right direction.

5 years ago, a buy in on a gas rangetop was about $2500+. Cost is a huge proponent of not gas. And yes there are cheaper ones but they aren't worthwhile.

And copper is by far the best pan material.

Induction is also more safe for.pets and kids. The surface stays cool and directly heats the pan.

I'm not sure if (or rather how well) stainless works on it either.... I know Aluminum and copper are a no go.

My guess is it would even make copper and aluminum core pans, like my all clad, not as valuable.

So it depends. If you have a bunch of cookware already, go with real fire. If you can buy cookware to match your stove, induction is the absolute bomb diggity. It will turn your whole pan into a wonder cooking magic device.

Who care how well it cooks. It's sexy!

Real stainless is not magnetic and therefore a fail on induction. Same with aluminum. Of course no one should ever cook on aluminum.

I prefer gas to induction...but also have an induction burner. Induction I use for cooking AT the table.

I also have a Bluestar for a gas range though and not some Kitchenaid wallyworld special. The Bluestar has a 22,000btu burner. A normal Sears gas range tops out at 8,000. And btw, 22,000 is often times NOT enough. Anything larger than a 10" pan is tough and requires that you know what you are doing. In other words, grabbing a $700 range from Home Depot in gas means you are really limited to a 5" pan which doesn't even cook for one.

Of course if you don't like Maillard then you are fine.

Using a saucier is much nicer on induction as well. SO EASY to dial in the right temp for the task at hand and simmering even over night doesn't heat up anything but the food.

If I had a shit ton of money I'd do both gas & induction although I only need a 2 burner induction. Problem is currently the pans as I own two cast iron pans that I mostly use at the beach and one Le Creuset braising pan.

Pans are like knives though. A set is ALWAYS STUPID.

If the wife is going to insist on electric for the next place I will have to do induction. Ive hated every electric stove.

BTW, not sure if I've asked this but how do you guys stop your fond from burning? Sometimes when I do multiple batches of food the fond ends up burning and being unusable for a sauce.

I need some help. I've got a 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer 4x4. It's always idled a little low every once in awhile, cycling from around 550 down to 400 and shaking a little, but only every once in awhile. Now it seems to do it often and it died while idling yesterday. I need to get it fixed. Any recommendations on what is happening? It's our only car.

Clean the throttle body. It is an electric TB, so be careful. Get a toothbrush and some carb cleaner. Remove the air inlet snorkel from the TB. Turn the key on with the engine off. Have someone step on the accelerator pedal and shoot the carb cleaner down the throttle body. Scrub the inside of the bore and as much of the plate as you can with the toothbrush. DO NOT STICK YOUR FINGERS IN IT!!! After a short period of time the throttle plates will close as a failsafe. It will rip your fingers off. Keep cleaning until it looks decent.

It is a common issue with electronic throttles. It may run like shit for a while, but give it 10 or 15 minutes, and it will be fine.

I'll find the gum cutter, and do this tomorrow at work. Thanks a ton man. What's the story on the juice too? I'm runnin' low. lol

It'll be a bit. I expect I should have some good working recipes in about a month. Supplies will be here by early next week, and I will be having to play with sweetness, tartness, and total amount of flavor based on nic levels. I may also do some playing with different atomizers, as I have found flavors to be different between varying types. A cart has a certain profile, a clearo a different profile, a rebuildable tank different yet again, and drippers with single and dual coils are different.

I just got a Trident, which is a dual coil dripper, and it is ridiculously tasty. HUGE clouds (the kind that will make a cigar fiend envious) and a ton of flavor. Where I have found my favorite juice right now could use some sweetness in a clearo, it needs nothing in the Trident. In fact, extra sweetener may make it perfumey.

So I am trying to decide if I want to do a "happy medium" or if I want to establish different lines for different attys.

What flavors and nic levels are you interested in?

I may offer extra flavor shots as an option to address the different profiles, FWIW. But then I will have to add a disclaimer about steeping times to reduce complaints of a perfume flavor.

So I noticed that the Altima was sitting out in back of the shop and I decided to go try to reset the computer. I popped the hood to find this, wtf!? There were nuts and bolts laying all throughout the engine bay, there were several different spark plugs laying around. It's in pieces.

Any ideas as to what these idiots did? It is sitting in the parking lot like this...

Rick I just noticed you are in Tucson. My step brother has his own shop there and a flatbed tow truck to boot. He is very competent and takes pride in his work. He is a rat rodder but is just as good on foreign's also as he did the timing belt in my daughters Lexus RX300 last time he was up. parts and labor. He had it done in less than 4 hrs.

He owe's me a favor as I hooked him up with my JD2 tube bender and notcher. I will call him once the sun come's up and see if he is available.

And no I wouldn't give a 17 year old a Lexus but my oldest doesn't live with me, and thats what the other half insisted on. fyi

I just got off the phone with my step bro. He had been up all night doing repo's. lol

Anyways he is up in Phoenix atm. He referred another gentleman that is VERY competent. The guy is an engine builder and is VERY knowledgeable on electronics. Give him a call and he probably can get it figured out for you.

The guys name is Ray. his # 520-790-0579

Tell him Andy Speer refered you to him. Good luck.

BTW whats the name of the shop the car is at now? I would ask them to re install everything and get it out of there.

She usually takes the 4runner and I have been having fun in the beetle. Suprised at how well it handles on shitty roads.
