If you just want to backup one directory (which could just be the entire partition if you did "/") then you could do:

sudo rsync -azvv /home/importantshit /media/hdd2
This would only backup files that have been changed.

Oh and you can use rsync to backup files to a remote host via ssh.

Seriously? Does it map it first or just look for date or what?

They seem to have the best learning games and it promotes good hand-eye coordination, and like you, I had several gift cards, so it was a no-brainer.

Any reason you went with the WiiU over the regular Wii. We want to get one but they are sold out everywhere and I can't seem to justify the price.

I've still only got 2 games for my PS3, but it gets used as a BluRay player.

Looks like my original laptop from college might have bit the dust (from my own stupid doing).

I saw that the computer I was messing with had a 2gb stick the same type as my laptop and since the computer didn't work I figured I'd try to throw it in. Boom, flashing lights (num and power constant, caps and scroll blinking). I tried to revert and same thing. I tried one at a time of the working ones in each slot and nothing. :(

She was going to be 8 this next year...

It copies everything over on "first run", then it backups by comparing timestamp and filesize. You can also set it to do a checksum (for same size files), but that'll slow it down some.

Prime example of why I use Linux, so much easier to do shit and almost everything is opensource. Need a program? 99% of the time it's listed in the repository files so all you do is: "sudo apt-get install programname," hit Y, and it's installed.

You want access to your home computer when you're away? Setup some firewall rules for ssh or vnc, start the services, port forward on the home router, and you're done.

Wanna write an image file to a usb drive? " dd if=imagefile.iso of=/dev/usbdevicename bs=512k" done.

I bought the kids a Wii many years ago, so this was just evolution and I had some WALMART gift cards. I hate the place, but I only paid $150 out of pocket, so no big deal.

Then you could save that as "backup" or what ever you want to call it, chmod +x the file, and run it from the terminal like ./backup, or make a new item on the gnome panel for running it.

That would mean saving that as a "program" called back up that I could simply run by typing ./backup in terminal or making a "shortcut" in Ubuntu?

Yep.

Just replace the source and destination with your harddrives' paths. I'm not 100% sure if it's the same in Ubuntu as Debian, but you can try "cd /media; ls" and see if that gives you a listing of the names of your harddrives. IE: /media/hdd2 and /media/hdd3

Not that it matters now since my computer is screwed but would you create an alias for that command or an actual program?

You could make an alias, but I just put my scripts in a folder.

Anyone know how much emphasis is still put on organic chemistry for med school, and what other classes they scrutinize?

Unless you plan on being a specialist in radiology, or opening, running, and owning a bunch of shops like the optometrist path I would stay as far away from med school as possible.

Earnings per dollar invested as a nurse is much much much better. Be in the 100k a year range, and as a male you will go far.

As for emphasis here at the U of M, one of the most coveted med degrees, it's about a really strong ethic and knowing you want to be a doctor and why. They just had a music major and an art major get in. The specificly are avoiding people who did biology or organic chem and are in their late 20's.

My old job at the hospital and the college are bed partners. I got to know some of the advisors there through that and my brother going "premed" there. You can find your colleges hard requirements, but they are honestly looking for diversity, age, and life experiences more than following the old premed classic structure.

Certain parts of radiology can still make you a mint, but in general doctors are not as profitable, and their average earnings is going to massively decline, or they will just cut the running amount of them in hospitals and clinics and hire more RNs.

100% honestly, if I could get a nursing degree I would and then worm my way into medical equipment sales or informatics.

Unless you are dying to be an MD. Buts financially and security wise it's a real crap shoot.

In a few years imaging will be THE feild. It will be in an insanely high demand, and there will be money fallling from the heavens.

If a big guy like GE does it, it will be a steady build up and success, but if some little guy has a breakthrough the cascade will make the .com bubble look like a joke.

How we measure and see the body is changing fast and once the equipment is modernized and made more mobile shit will be Cray Cray.

I bought an Innoken iClear30B clearomizer today. The flavor fucking  kicks ass. Fuck the PT3. That thing sucks balls.

I feel pretty set what I'm doing for undergrad, and would like to continue it in grad school most likely, but med school may be another route (haven't thought of it much yet since I still have two more years for undergrad), so I was just curious how far an ochem grade goes when applying.

Honestly I'm paying zero attention to income. I'm a little worried about the job market, but worst case if I couldn't find work after grad school I could go into patent agent or patent attorney--though that's not my first choice.

So some of the juices have tobacco, some have nicotine, some have alcohol, some are hash oil, and some are just flavoring?
