Something about studio listening I enjoy when in the serious "near field".

Called me back on the truck. So far it sounds like it is built right. I have access to the builder, the tuner and if I begged the previous owner. Traded it in on a new AMG, lol. Merc didn't want it and called autosource...or so I was told. Either way if he paid for other shit to go with his LSX I am interested in the beast. My boss is jealous, lol.

If not, I found a free Infiniti. Don't want it, but...

3.5 years old, 28k miles, vortech LSX build. Little concerned it has been thrashed, but it isn't like I don't plan to beat on it.

Who are the builder and tuner?

Built 427 should easily handle that power.  Can't be much more than 5-6lbs. of boost, and it's aftercooled, so I HIGHLY  doubt it's seen detonation.

Elite Auto Works in Garland built it, Taylor at Dallas Performance did the dyno/tune

Sounds fun!

Dallas is INSANE!  I've seen a LOT of their cars on TV and online.  Many people have used them on exotics as well.  I would have NO worry about that truck.

Assuming of course that he truly did it.

Glad to hear you know of them though.

That being said I am curious what I should have inspected pre-purchase.

I definitely want the build list, any dyno/setup info, and so on. Obviously truck has more value to me if the parts used were as high budget as it looks.

Strange turn of potential events though.

Obviously would have to get some snows around KC as driving on the Nitto's all the way to MN might be a terrible idea.

Tell them you want a 30 day guarantee, and when you get it, take it out and flog the shit out of it for a few hours.   See what software they used for tuning and if it has data log capability, you might be able to buy something to log.

My next convo's with them ought to be fun.

Top: Halo Triton with variable voltage battery.

Middle: Halo G6 with mini tank.

Bottom; Halo G6 with standard cartomizer. It is about the same size as a regular 100 cigarette.

The big ass Triton is getting a special dabs globe. It is actually really nice compared to the e-cigs. The flavor is so much more full and unhindered. I was rather surprised, actually. I was surprised to find out how just changing the voltage of the battery (on the Triton) affects the flavor of the vapor. You can turn it up too far, so it takes a little playing, but it is fucking badass.

Told ya youd love it, some juices require you to burn em hotter to get a good cloud out of em. But I love having variable voltage too makes it so much easier to get what you want.

Just drove a Tundra, 4Runner & an Escalade. Thought maybe a $15k get my by could stretch/delay the inevitable. Not so amusingly the craptastic GM drove BY FAR the best of the lot. The Tundra is a fucking boat. Thought it would at least feel Japanese, but nope.

The TRD 5.7 Supercharger though is appealing...otherwise I wouldn't have gone. Since I was there I thought wth I'll tool a 4runner as they can be had cheap. Poop.

Might handle a shit ton better with a rear sway bar added on.I want the supercharger and sway bar for mine. The bar will come after christmas, supercharger some point in the future.J
Handles WAY worse than the Cadillac which shocked me completely. I figured it'd be an upgrade across the board. Sway bar is not the problem either. Calibration and ride height of the suspension are.
Well that makes sense. What type of calibration would you change on it?J
New springs, shocks, sways, links basically everything. Needs to be way lower and tightened up significantly.

It just felt HUGE compared to its American counterparts

Makes sense. I will agree that they ride a bit big and have a sizeable blind spot on the passanger side. I am going to testit out with the sway bar and hold on to it still.

I do have one question though for the motorheads here.

Bolt on the crankshaft that holds on the fly wheel is a bit hard to turn since I turn over the motor. Any trick to holding it still?

Impact. Otherwise I leave the engine on the vehicle and crank it with the ratchet/socket on the crank and wedged to prevent them from turning. The starter torque will pop the bolt.

Actually 2 questions.

Would you rejet if your pistons looked like this?

They look exceptionally clean. But plugs tell me more than the pistons do.

You had no mechanical problems? Where they known for any major issues Lee?

Not that I was aware of, I did a lot of research before buying. It's funny really, all I did was 2 step colder plugs to spray that much. I have pics I will post when I get home. The viper motor is just a big pushrod motor that is pretty bulletproof. Stock the AF ratio was 10 flat at WOT, on a 125 shot it was still low 12's. They are so conservative

10 flat AF is stunningly rich. So much so that it should melt cats down inside a few weeks. optimum efficiency is 14.7, period.

Not at WOT it isnt. Yes at idle the A/F will fluctuate up around mid high 14's. But under full load that would be WAY lean and damage the motor. Most vehicles will idle lean up in the 14's, no need for fuel with no load.

On a Naurally aspirated motor 13.0 at WOT is Ideal. In a Turbo or SC car then you want to see no higher than say 11.7-11.9 or maybe touch 12.

If you are going to put "period" at the end of the sentence at least give correct info so a newb doesnt listen. If you tell a tuner to make your AF ratio 14.7 you WILL be replacing the motor when massive detonation occurs!!!

here is my old all motor 347 Mustang dyno with a damn near perfect tune

100_4387.jpg

here is a breakdown of it, notice the A/F stays between 13.2-12.8
