Add another column with a indicator of a milestone, say an X then do an If statement to search for the X's?

Hey guys,

I am doing some work in excel and really can't think of a way to search to find my answer.

I have some tasks that are labeled with "milestones" (ex: introduction, work, wrap-up)

There are 3-5 tasks per milestone, that have beginning and end dates. I want excel to search the task for each milestone for the minimum and maximum dates and place them on a different sheet. However I can't think of the way to make excel check a cell before reading a different cell.

simple if statement

Ha, that doesn't happen really ever, just happened to be invited somewhere that this was all a bit of public domain. This is about the stage where my work normally starts. FEA correlation, noise source identification, damping placement, and more of course.

The different colors above signify different materials.

For instance the dash assembly in the MDX is magnesium, the vette/rover all aluminum. On the Silvy it is mostly different tensile strength steel.

ALL of it has to be verified for structural integrity and optimized for NVH behavior. Generically speaking that is what we do.

Doing some work with active noise cancellation utilizing the audio systems of cars as well. That is public, the techniques however are not.

Vette was never Mg, had some Mg in it. Currently it is using the single largest hydroformed piece of alum in the world as part of its frame.

Cool that they implemented shape memory alloy in the venting system for the rear hatch as well. If you don't know what shape memory alloys are it is worth a google. Super fucking cool. I've been working with a few Nasa spin offs that are making a solid state airplane (ie no motors to run the wings or engine, but it will fly).

Lots of cool techniques going into making it work too. You can ask questions, but you'll have to google a bunch as I can only share published stuff.
