Gonna be looking for a new DD this week. Has to be new with good gas milage preferably some sort of hatch or small SUV at or under 25,000. I was thinking '14 Honda CRV. Do NOT want a Nissan.

Any suggestions?

Has to be "new"?  :(

Agreed, buying one with low miles would allow you to buy a lot more "car".

The CRV is gross though.  Serious POS.  Test drove them when my mom was looking

Speed3 zoom zoom! ;)

I like this or the Focus ST. Essentially the same car, but the ST includes the Quaiffe (sp?).

I know you are referring to the LSD, but at first reading at speed it looked like queef.

And FWIW, I am so tired of working on Euros it is sickening. I love my new job, I am extremely happy... but fuck these Euros and Hybrid pieces of shit. I honestly believe that if you enjoy either of the aforementioned vehicle types, you are a fucking retard... no offense intended to my friends here, but they are over engineered pieces of shit with no real world considerations included in the application... Gee, why are Crown Vics the taxi cab of the US? For the same reason these hunks of shit are the taxi cabs of Europe.

Having owned and helped fix European cars I tend to agree. Changing the headlight bulbs requires taking off the wheel or the bumper or taking apart half the front end...pretty stupid if you ask me.. Although I feel that over-engineering and no consideration on how it's going to get disassembled are problems found on higher end models.

Low-end stuff is where simplicity is key and for instance taking off interior pieces of a european econo-box is as simple as taking them off in the Jeep.

Funny thing is pre-V8 BMW's were the opposite, by far the most logically laid out and easy to work on vehicles I'd ever owned.

The E36 convertible seemed pretty easy but panel fit sucked because everything was wrapped in vinyl.

W123's and W124's with 500k are running all over Frankfurt the last time I was there.  They drive the living snot out of those cars daily and they hold.  My W124 was quite good, my sister's W124 is still going strong.

W124 is pretty much the last good Merc sedan IMO. W211 is still pretty good.

Miata...I want a fucking Miata. Next summer....driving with the top down.

Bitch car!

You'll have the chance to tell me I drive a bitch car pretty soon biggrin.png

The track prepped Miata's that are torching me in autocross, I wouldn't dare call them bitch cars.  Serious suspension + great rubber + small turbo = killer track car.

First two are simple and pretty cheap. Even as a fun toy to own it should be a kicker.

My other second car option is a Mercedes W210, with a 2.0 N/A diesel. Hmmm, I wonder which one is better as a fun car...

No chance. First gen Miata with the 1.8 is under $3k. Which is exactly my budget.

Not sure what I want. If I find a vehicle with 30mpg with mileage I get paid the car will be basically free.

Sister was throwing away some old computer bits, and there happened to be a pretty new looking laptop in the pile. Apparently she got it from work, and it got a "nasty" virus on it. Employer simply gave her a brand new laptop. Soooooo, free laptop for me!
