We have similar needs, but my body is worse than yours.

I figure the 70d/7dm2 and a f4 might buy the same improvement you seek for similar dough.  Other lenses get better then too.  Or of course a used 2.8 V1

What ever the 7D replacement is should be baller if the trend continues the way it has.

Oh and you folks discussing cameras, don't need new, don't even need from the last decade.  Heres one from a point and shoot camera that is from '02 taken today.  Technically not the best picture, but clear, in good focus, good colors right out of the camera, nice, depth of field and pretty damn decent from a 11yr old model.

That is a great picture. The photographer knew what they were doing.

The subject however isn't moving, and it's outside or at least decent light.

Oil change, messy stuff. Drain pan for the oil pan, for the filter (damn horizontal mount) and for the oil cooler.

Since this is my last week at Emerson, I might as well take the backhoe to work one day.

If only that was the reason. And I never even pulled it out

Yeah, I helped some scrappers take apart 3 buses and I had to move around 2 totaled cars. Fun times I tell you :)

Case 580G in the movie, mine is a generation newer. And thus cooler :P

The photographer is ~14 too.

For the most part I do think you guys are over complicating what you need to take quality pictures though.  Sure, low light with digital is an issue, so you've got two options, faster lenses or bump up ISO, when you bump up ISO quit your pixel peeping!  Forget autoISO, set that shit on at least 800 and go to town if you are in doors, you should be able to hand hold to 1/60th, moving shit, panning is your friend.

Heck, low light with anything becomes an issue especially if you can't add more light artificially, but buy a decent flash for the hot shoe, forget the onboard one for the most part if you are further than 8-10' away.

Then again I've been on a minimalist kick lately so I've been taking a lot harder look at what I use/need/carry for general tasks so I've been kicking shit to the curb and I just don't see a DSLR needed for day to day activities unless you draw a paycheck from it.  Time magazine covers have also been shot with an iPhone too.

ANY camera can work in a studio or ok lighting.

And you can kill an elephant with a .22 but I would use a different tool.

To me a DSLR allows me to do more with less.... But I see it from a different perspective. I also do get paid for it in the terms of, for my non profit I can collect media myself or pay someone. If I do it myself, I get to keep the toy. So it makes it easier to "justify" the cost.

No flash at the last event. Not that anyone but me listened to that.

But yes, a speedlight will make my life better, especially using it off the camera as a second flash.
