JL stealthbox with Icon 10"

Recommended Posts

Having never heard an Icon 10" in a sealed box I was wondering if it would be worth the money to upgrade the JL 10w3v3 that is currently in my JL stealth box? Box volume is .625 and is located under the center console in a 2006 toyota tundra double cab. I currently have a 500 watt RF powering it but I would upgrade the amp too if I did the switch. Basically I'm wondering if it would be significantly louder. I understand that a small sealed box isn't ideal for "loud" but it was nice keeping my back seat. Any opinions would be appreciated.

won't be much louder unless you double power or more..... a 10" is a 10" .... unless you changed to a ported enclosure...

Very true. Considering the power handling capability of the icon over the W3 I was planning on more than doubling the power to it with a sundown 1200.

How much power are you running with the w3?

I don't know, JL does a ton of research and that's a really small box.

Even if you are running the full 500 with the rf amp you would probably be a bit louder with the ICON on 1200 rms.

The amp I currently have is pushing just over 360 RMS. Would some polyfill help since the box is so small?

Doubling the power, should make a noticeable difference.

What about the polyfill ? If I do get the icon should I use about a pound of polyfill ?

You can try it with and without, just see what you like better.
