Suggestions for subs in dodge intrepid trunk

Recommended Posts

Hey ive posted before here asking about what subs i should buy to fit in the trunk of a 2004 dodge intrepid but never really came to a decision. But with the black friday sale i really want to make up my mind fast. I have a regular battery in the front and an xs 3400 in the rear. Did big 3 in 00 wire. And im getting a new alternator. Im not sure what amps i need to get to have sufficient power for 2250 watts rms. Any suggestions.

For subs so far i like the idea of 1 15 in zcon, or 2 12 in icon, or possibly 3 10 in gcon. Im not sure if any of those are practical or not, so im completely open to suggestion.

For enclosure im not sure if i will do ported or sealed it all depends on space. And i mostly listen to rap music.

Answer these questions and you will get better answers from other members.

Max dimensions?

Budget?

Tuning you like?

Amp or amps you have?

1. You need to let us know what space you have available for the enclosure ? Max Height, width and depth?

2. What's your budget?

3. Are you looking for sound quality or spl or a mixture of both?

4. over all whats your goal?

This would give us an idea what to recommend.

Also I'm going with 2 12 inch zcons. Can't wait!! I've never heard a bad review on the zcons or any of the SSA products!

Max height 1ft 6 width 3 ft depth 4 ft

I have a crescendo bc 2k.

I like bass that you can feel. Loudness is more important than quality but i still want them to sound decent as far as sq.

I am willing to spend up to 750 on just the subs

I was thinking tuned around 34 hz

And my overall goal is to maximise my cone area in my given space and have a powerfull bass if that make sense. I like to feel my body shake.

Are you building the box inside the trunk?? Your measurement seem to be the actual dimesions of whole trunk inside. Make sure you measure the opening of the trunk because you will need the box to fit through it to get into the trunk. Not measuring the trunk opening properly will result in a too big of a box that cant fit lol happened to me once!

The seats fold down so i can slide it in from the front.

And i changed my mind i think i want it to be loud without sacrificing any more sq than i have to

Sorry but i dont think those measurements are correct. I think you should try and measure it again. I say this because i'm pretty sure my trunk of my fusion is bigger than the intrepid and i dont come close to those measurements. I'm also going to be going in from the cabin sliding the box in. Just what i think you should do!

For tuning I would go to around 31-32hz. That's what i like. You feel the bass a lot and lower tuning and lower frequencies are louder to the ear. Also lower tuning is better for sq (from what I've been told). If this is for a daily system, I think that would work better.

intrepids truck is large.. but it has a small opring on the trunk lid.... my brother just sold his it. was an 01.. but the seats did not fold down.... weird...

either way...

if your looking to shake bodies then i would tune lower.... im tuned at 29 hrts.. i shake every fuckin thing.... but it is HARD to find music that plays low enough... 90% of my music is custom made....

i would love to see a tripply G con build.

I just feel it's more than what it should be. Hopefully somebody else can post their opinions on your topic to help you out!

Is there anyway you could send some music too me? I love the low but i can't find a lot of songs that play the lows. It'd be great to get some better music!

Yeah they redid the intrepid in 02. Thats when the seats started folding down. I think i will tune to 31hz. And the actual trunk is bigger than those measurements

If my math is correct, @ 13.5v idle, you would need 170 amps for 2250 watts rms. Not to mention the car's stock electrical.

I would stick with a 15" or lower, 18s in cars aren't really optimal. Not saying they can't fit

If you do 2 subs with that amp I would do either SSA Icons, Xcons or FI SSD's or BL's.

All will do what u need
