Can I fit 2 Zcon 18's in 14.25 cu. ft?

Recommended Posts

As the title says...I have 14.25 cubes available. I want to run 2 zcon 18's. I don't know anything at all whatsoever about designing a box.

With that said, after subtracting driver displacement, port displacement, and bracing, will I have enough room?

If not I have a Zcon 18" Dual 2 for sale lawl

I fit 2 zcons in around that space, a little less.I think I had mine in around 6 cubes each and they did very very well.

Sure they'll fit. The packaging they come in is only around 2.5 ft^3

So I can just cut a hole in the crate and run them that way?

Yea you don't even need a port. The cardboard acts as a passive radiator

Depending on how much you lose in bracing and the port, it could work. I had mine in about 3 net each.

6cubes net is lowest I would go anything below that I would hate my ears.

So it sounds like poop if its in 5 cubes but not 6? Maybe learn how to tune an enclosure. Mine are in a small box and digs low as fuck.

Been awhile since Ive been on here but I Just purchased back my 2x 15" SSA Icon subs I first purchased around 11 years ago.
I have/ had them in a 7.2 cubic foot box net tuned to 32 and it sounded great on the bass music and rap/ hip hop I used to listen to but not amazingly accurate/ punchy on rock, etc.
Im looking to only use one of them in my 2010 Ram 1500.
I currently have a 10" JL W7 in a sealed box in the truck and it sounds great and I love it but doesn't quite have the output Id like and planning to put 1 of the Icons in the truck.
Im considering either Ported or sealed. I now listen to mainly bands like chainsmokers, club music, alt rock, heavy rock, and a bit of edm, etc. Looking for it to be very accurate on kick drums but also hit hard so you feel it in your chest.
According to SSA optimal ported is around 3.5-4 net tuned to around 32hz but Im thinking about tuning a bit higher. Ive done some winisd modelling but its been a long time and just wanting to hear thoughts on these designs.
My max dimensions are 20" wide, 24" deep by 22" high.
This is one design i'm considering, is 2.25" wide too thin for port width? im worried about port velocity and noise
      \
Or if I go sealed this is what im thinking.

      Thanks again for any help

Hello all, I have been away from the forums for some time since graduating college and started working again. Now that I have some money to finally move away from these seemingly low powered setups (6 systems since 2012), I am looking for help with my wall build. I am going to be building the base to the wall in my 2016 Ford Focus sedan in a week or two, and there is a lot of room to work with (over 30 cubes). I will be running 2 18" ZCONs on (undecided) either a 5.5k or 6.5k amp with supporting electrical (batt bank, lots of OFC wire, and HO alt). This is my daily, and I just want a ground pounder with no care to what numbers it'll put up in the lanes. I would like to demo a lot. I'm thinking 8 cubes per sub (16 cubes net) tuned to 32 Hz is a good place to start (recommended by SSA). I'm thinking either a center slot port, or a top port.
** I listen to ALL kinds of music, Decaf/DJSNT, rap, hip hop, metal, rock, 80s/90s pop, jazz, country, movie scores, blues, dubstep/electronic, classic rock, oldies, etc, etc..**
Now... my questions are: How much port area do y'all recommend? Is 8 cubes of net volume per sub a good amount? Should I be alright running an underrated 5500 watt amp, or go with the 6500? What port orientation shall I go with?
If I think of more questions, I will be sure to post them.
P.S. Sorry if I am asking some questions that are common knowledge among these builds, but this is my first "loud" and "high powered" setup. My two loudest systems thus far have been a single Obsidian Audio 15 on about 900 watts, and 2 Sundown Ev3-12's on 1300 watts.
Thank you for your time and patients everyone! Cheers.
