not sure what to do...help please

i currently have a 12" rlp sealed getting 600 watts, but it just isn't quite loud enough. I found about three other alternatives but I'm not sure what is the best choice, whatever I get, I would get a new amp to properly power it.

Choice 1: a 15" rlp

Either choice sounds fun, but my overall goal is to be loud while still sounding good (i listen mainly to rock, so i like nice tight accurate punchy bass)

Take the ID's, in my opinion. More displacement, so they have the potential for more output. And you know they'll sound damn good doing it.

EDIT: I missed the first option of a single 15" Rl-p. The Rl-p and the pair of ID's have pretty close displacement potentials. In a few weeks I'd be able to tell you how the ID's sound compared to an Rl-p. But I'd limit it to those two options..the ID's and the Rl-p.

^^^ word. an RL-p ported on 600w is NOTHING.

yep..port that sucker!!! a 12" rl-p in about 2ft^3 tuned to 34hz (or ask denim how one sounds in 28hz) off 600wrms will get silly loud and sound awesome doing it!!

if that doesn't rattle ur brains, get the 15. basiclly the same size sealed box as a ported 12"..

btw..the 2 id's will need roughly twice the box that u have now....so if space is an issue....

same with the 3 AA 10's...

I'll agree again. It's always simplest to work with what you have before spending more cash. YOu already have a great and capable driver. Just need a better adaptation to your application.

ok guys, so i ported the 12" rlp, 1.75 cu ft tuned to 30 hz (i was told this would be loud and retain good SQ) i must admit the rlp sounds great, but i still prefer the sound of sealed better for my application. the ported box sounds GREAT for the lower notes, and is really smooth, but i listen mainly to rock, so i need better bass around 60 hz(i think?!?), which is more ideal in sealed. my little brother offered to buy my rlp, which is why im considering something else(cause i kinda want to try something new). my main question is will two 12" ID sealed subwoofers getting 500 watts each be louder than my one rlp sealed with 600 watts?

RLp's are amazing subs and one of the few that I've owned that I would hate to sell.

If you want really loud on rock either get another one or eq those frequencies up.

I've got a WAVES maxx bass processor that takes some logrithm of the input frequency and changes it to a series of higher octives (it makes it sound the same but the speaker travels less) then I used it with my pair of ADS 8's they got incredibly loud yet they didn't move as much.

This might work on your RLP, I'll sell the processor for 70 I have the reciept for 150 if you're intersted.

Sorry to take a thread and turn it into a sale, but since it might be a solution I thought I would mention it.

If this thing can make my 6.5's sound way deeper and louder, getting 40hz-70hz loud on an rlp will be a cake walk.
