Recommended Posts

Ummm not to be an ass or anything but this is getting off topic I'm here for advice on the 3 skar audio vvx 8s I got going into a 2000 Acura integra if there someone that can help me with a box design for them I'm new to this. I'm looking for this set up to boom my car where I can see the whole car flex will it be possible? I have a hifonics Brutus 1700.1 amp that will power them.

As I said in my post two post up it's not a problem. But no I don't have any pre made for those sub's.

A day or two ago "Keven S" recommended you to go to a particular designer. Kevin is the owner of Skar. Were they not helpful?

Repost ur max external deminsions. And I ASSuME u want the sub's and port facing the same direction?

And if you're not sure of ur skill set. I might even come out of retirement and build it for you.

Well I don't need a box built a friend offered me to build it for me since I'm really in a low budget. I'm jst looking to get a box designed that's it. Because everywhere I have asked for a built box its about 200 bucks and I don't want to spend that much for a box. I just want a design. I want the subs facing up and want to get the best performance out of them where my car is flexing and booming if possible. I mainly listen to rap/ hip hop and some light rock. Demensions I would say H 14" L 28" W 18".

But just to keep in mind how much would you charge to build a box and ship it to 94621?

Is performance affected by the direction of subs and port?

You'd be in the 250 range. But you'd bet my quality is gonna be hard to beat as most anyone here would agree.

But anywho, if it's a trunk car I'd put the port and subs on the same side.

Ok repost ur max deminsions. And tell me how much room is between your max depth and the rear hatch. If it's a hatchback you will want to face the port rearward and the subs up.

I don't doubt on your skill the problem is my low budget. I still need to upgrade my primary battery ... box design keeping in mind I want to keep half of my trunk space so for the box I would like it to be H 14" L 28" and D 18" ...if that is ok?

No, not possible with what you have.

Read the noobie posting guidelines real quick, you'll understand why your thread derailed then. Hint: They are in my sig.

If he recommended them, perhaps.

3 8's are roughly the same cone area as 2 10's.

no parts won't be falling of your car but in a well designed box I think they will still be decent. It all depends on your expectations. And no making your whole car flex isn't my idea of a loudness benchmark.

I could bounce a full 2 liter off my roof with a single 12 with 1000 watts. But all cars flex differently and a lot of it depends on install and design.

Let Quentin design it for you. He knows his business !

Play your music, enjoy your subs, and maybe sells them later if you have some more money to upgrade.

Yeah that is what I'm going to do. I just hope Quentin can help me by giving me a box design I can use to build the box.

How's ur buddy's building skills? Do you want to 45 the corners and port angles. Or do you just want everything with straight corners so it's easy to build.

His building skills are pretty good so if the 45 corners help improve the outcome then let's go with that please?

two pieces of 3/4 mdf 4 to 6 inches wide directly between the left sub and the middle sub and between the right sub and the middle sub. run the braces from the top to the bottom to keep the baffle from flexing.

If you PM me your email address I can email the sketch up so you can get the measurements off all of the parts of the box.
