My DirecTV never went out. Dish Network would go out if it was cloudy.

Electrical Power follows your driveway ??

electrical power follows the driveway but out here in the sticks the electric company owns the poles so the cable company has to rent the pole space from the electric company. There is cable on the main road but I'm the only house in the middle of 140 acres down a 1/3 mile long driveway so in order to get cable I have to pay to have the line ran. So I just stick with directv

Our cable used to go out more often than our Dish Network.

I understand, my dad is sort of in the same boat.

I made a very small "umbrella/roof over" just for his LNB and for the most part, cleared up a lot except for major storms ... Doesn't matter if the actual dish gets wet, but try your best to keep that LNB dry and not let condensation build up on that LNB lense cover ... It doesn't really care if rain drops are hitting it or not

Then again, these damn hurricanes flying over recently hasn't helped us none ... They keep us with a lot of work to do

One reason you may loose reception on satellite tv is your reception variance is too tight. 85% or less of a signal and you will loose reception. I had that problem myself and a friend who was a tech had my variance opened more. I almost never loose reception now.
