6-E12's?

Recommended Posts

Vehicle is a 99 Suburban w/no 3rd row. List of current equipment: Singer 275a alt, 4/0 power/ground, XS D3400 front, 6 Deka Intimidators rear. I'm considering changing my current setup already & going with the 6-E12's on a SAZ-3500. Curious how many people,if any, have experience using them in multiples. I have about 30cu ft net roughly before sub, bracing, & port displacement. Any suggestions or input are welcomed.

I'm changing my current subs/amp setup to show what entry level subs can do.

I have to go out & get some measurements to see if 8 will fit. It's raining like hell in Indy right now so it'll have to wait.

Thinking 6-8 15's now....lol!

I know they can run in as low as 3cu per. I got a demo of a single 15 in 3cu ported & tuned @ 34hz. It was ran @ approx 3-350w in a van & it shocked the hell out of me.

I can't make my damn mind up! The only thing I'm 100% of is that I will be running a 3.5k amp @ .5ohm. It's either 8-15's or 8-12's ported & tuned @ 32hz. If I run the 15's, they would require 24cu net minimally. I can lower the needed net volume of the enclosure to 16cu with the 12's & run them more efficiently.

Any thoughts & or suggestions?

A little more info.....I previously ran 4-18's on 6k in a undersized enclosure (17cu net). They metered right @ about 150db. I'm trying to attain a comparable level by being much more efficient. I've sold the 18's, so not building another more suitable enclosure for them.

I love the premise of your rebuild. I'd love to be able to give some suggestions but I simply have no experience with which to do so. I can say for certain I'm looking forward to seeing how it turns out no matter what direction you end up going with it.

If you truly have enough space for the 15s go for it. That is so much more cone area than the 12s. Are the Sundown E's the only option?

I agree with S.DeYoung on the 15". I was running one on 400rms @ 4ohms in a jeep liberty and I used my spl-labs meter to record a 135db @ 40 hz.

Sundown is my best option as far as pricing goes, I get team pricing.

I know that I have 50" W & I believe 50" L as well, H is pretty flexible. Currently, the enclosure H is @ 24".I'm not concerned with being below window line. I don't plan on competing, just a daily driver.

Looks like 6-15's & 3.5k will be the final decision. Thanks for everyones input.

Who has experience or a general idea of what may work with 6 of the Sundown Audio E15's? According to Sundown specs they can work from (3-4cu per) 18-24cu net & I'd like tuning @ 32-33hz. I'm open to a slot port or use of aeroports. 99 Suburbans w/barn doors theoretically do better with the port along the bottom width of the gate. Jacob has made the statement that due to the lower strength of the motore that 4-8cu in of port is all that is necessary. These subs are only rated @ 400rms ea.

My current idea is 18cu net tuned to 32hz with 3-6" aeroports powered by the Sundown SAZ-3500Dv.2......electrical is taken care of.

I ran 6 Tempests in 24ft @ 32Hz. Did 152.8 with 2200 watts... You will probably be louder with more power...

Hmmm, don't know why. I wanted you to see because I set the wall up in place of 3rd row seating, 2 row was still functional. Would be easy in your Suburban....

Hmm, sounds interesting. Shizzzon actually suggested a similar scenario.
