ken x889 or pio 860mp???.....comparison

Recommended Posts

im deciding between these two decks for awhile now and i wanted to know who has which and what they like about it. I can get the x889 for $218 or i could pay an extra $100 and get the pio 860mp.Now ive heard that the pio is alot easier to use and might have a better eq and other stuff but is it better then the x889 and worth the extra $100???

What are you looking for? What functions are most important to you? Is ease of use really important? I'm a pioneer fan so my vote would go there, but i've heard some bad reviews on the 860 (faulty)

yeah ive heard some things like that too.i really like the time alignment and the speaker selection,i like the screen better on the 860 but thats not a huge deal cause i need the one that has better tuning.....like i said before it just kinda comes down to is the pio and its features worth the extra 120 bucks cause ive heard some pretty good things about the 889.

i don't like the kenwoods. they might be good decks and all, but ease of use is pretty important when u consider the setting in which u will be using the thing,ie: driving downt he road!

IMO, the 860 would indeed be worth the extra money simply because pioneer has alway been a good choice and easy to use. i have yet to see a kenwood that is as easy to use as a pioneer.

my question is this, are u just limited to those two decks? with brands like eclipse, sony, clarion and panasonic out there, not to forget alpine. i'm sure in that mix is what ur looking for.

well of course i pretty much wanted the 8445 but thats about $150 more then the x889 and i thought that deck for the price would be kinda as good as the 8445.and i have heard too much bad things about the new alpines to think about them....i wish i could find a 9835 for a good price then my mind would be made up i think.. what all decks would be good for under $300 or alittle above??

Nope, nowhere near; however, before you look for a deck defining what you need is really, really important. To me quality undoctored sound is so much more important than any sort of bling, some people think the other way--I don't understand them.

ok so i guess then that if i can get the x889 for $220...the 8445 for $275...and the pio 860 mp for around $320,then of i guess without question i should go with the 8445???

I'd probably lean that way, but you ignored my statement of defining what you actually need. So far you are just appealing to the subjective nature of car audio by asking what people like. What is important is what you want out of a system and to integrate the components to meet that.

ok well i feel like im getting all that i should be getting out of my music because of my 760mp.....i dont care about that flashy crap like i use to i just want my music to sound the best it can and have the features that can make it that way.TA is a important feature to me i think cause it helped alot when i had my alpine 9813...but anyways just one thats gonna have the best sound processing and features i guess.

As per previous posts I think you can fix most of your woes by fixing your install and replacing your A.bahn stuff. It is going to help a lot more than changing from a 760 to an 860 unless you are trying to run active of course.

my subs have nothing to do with why i wanna get a different deck its not having to higher models that have the TA and the higher volt outputs and just better overall with everything else.

My friend went from a 9300 to a 4700 to a 940mp

The difference between the 9300 and 4700 was crazy.

And teh difference between the 4700 and the 940 was crazy too.

It sounded SOOOO much better all eqed and t/a.

I dont care what anyone says, H/U's make a big difference

thats what im sayin....and in trying to figure out which one is better but i think im gonna just save up and get the 8445 since that seems to be the best and what seems to have the best features. now i could as if the 8445 is better then the 860mp but that could go on forever i think.....

hey, what's wrong with sony??? i absolutely loved my cdx c860a (i think..lol), except for the skipping problem, it was/is better then the alpine that replaced it (though not by much..the alpine didn't skip, but i lost preout voltage) for the same money.

the new, higher level sony's aren't bad at all. the sony screens suck because they have absolutely no preout voltage, or else we are just getting a bad batch, but teh other higher end sony's rock! and look pretty damn sweet too!

now, i just bought the 500 for my b-i-l mustang...i think i'll step up and replace the eclipse with one (though with one a little higher up the evolutionary ladder) jsut to prove my point...lol....

nate...u can't go wrong with eclipse...but u gotta spend money to get features with them. the pioneer would be a good all around choice as well...

but m5 is right...u can't go on our word alone.

Sony puts spyware on their audio CD's (and tried to lie about it); even if you say no, it still load's itself deep into Windows. The fix opens up you computer for attacks.

Now, I never was a big fan of Sony anyway, but there's sure as hell nothing great about Sony ever since they released the Xplode series...

I'll stick with a factory radio (with a L.O.C. and line driver) before I would use a Sony Xplode radio...

actually some of those LOC's Dave Navarro puts out are even better than some HU's.

The LOC's are nice, but crap in = crap out. If your HU is sucky it won't help.
