I would try to tighten those screws more.. The heads on the screw should be able to go thru the gasket to tighten even more...but be careful

LOL I definitely will tighten those screws... I just took the sub out to repair it, and took the picture when the screw was half-way in, since that's where it was when the accident happened.

I received quite a few compliments about the stain from kids on campus, thank you!

Still unsure if the adhesive is going to hold, but it seems pretty solid. The build's been completed, with the exception of painting the box and the HIDs, which will be saved for another time down the road.

Although finished and relatively good looking, I ran into an issue with the wiring. This is the first DVC sub I've ever installed, not to say that's an excuse, since this diagram makes it appear pretty simple:

I was running out of time before I had to leave for a concert, so I didn't bother troubleshooting that night. I'm going to look into the RCAs in back of the HU and if those are all good I'll pull the sub out and hope I can wire it right this time. LOL

Good job on your first system. Everything is very clean. I have to say though that I do not like the battery post being unprotected like they are. Even a little liquid electrical tape might serve as a little protection.

I know when I did my first install I fried an amp and an alternator

Got the sub to work today. I undid the bolts that the speaker wires are wired to and the negative wire's strands just fell off, so I assume there wasn't enough of a connection for the signal. In any case, I'm so stoked and as soon as I get the amp relatively tuned, I'll take a good video and write a review on the beast. All I have right now is a garbage video from my Galaxy.

Color Comparison: The highs are the stock halogen bulbs.

Compared with the fogs. This pic alone makes me consider getting HID fogs, or at least 5000k LED replacements.

This picture was taken from somewhere around 25 yards from no more than 3 feet off the ground.

I actually aimed them a little further down after taking that last picture. They're tons better than the stockers. Driving these unlit roads at high speeds is no longer a concern. I've also found that they help me see around turns with my tinted windows better.

It's been quite awhile since I've posted here.  I figured I'd update how the car's doin'. 

 

I need to open the dash to find out why my steering controls won't work, but other than that, everything's great.

 

Have been in touch with a guy on fordedgeforum who makes custom lights for the car about getting interior LEDs.  Have some Ebay ones in the map lights right now.  Stock's on top, the LED is the white plastic.

Not super bright, but they work pretty well for the $5 spent.  I have plans to do the rear dome light and the license plate light.  Also, have a taillight mod I'll be doing over the summer, or when it's warmer.

They're very bright.  Got some cool stuff hopefully for this summer.  Think I'm gonna chill on the mods a little and save some cash.

Nice install.  I really like the detail and pictures you  give.

 

Just a thought, I've always put some kind of protection on my power wire anytime I have had to run it outside the vehicle.  Sure, it may not be necessary, but its for my peace of mind.  In the past I've used a clear PVC type material that was just a little larger than the outside diameter of the wire.  I run the power wire through it and then installed it.   Turned out pretty nice.  I've also used flex loom, but to me its not as good as the other. 

 

I feel your pain on the screwdriver bit through the woofer surround.  I've done that twice in my life of installing.  I've sworn no more.  I now put my enitre hand around the bit and screw.  I figure if it slips off it will damage my hand, not the woofer.  My hand will heal.

Good idea on the hand-around-bit, Parrish.  I had originally went to the store to buy the flex loom, coincidentally, the guy I asked where I could find it also installed car audio!  He had said that the few bucks I'm spending on the product wouldn't do much.  He'd had his run outside for years with no protection and no problems.  The car's high enough off the ground, and threaded through enough places that I'm not all that worried about it.  You read the whole thing?!  Damn!

 

Sen, I found Dan, of DTBL, on fordedgeforum and many owners use him for the interior and exterior lighting.  I will definitely be doing vleds when I find something I want that Dan doesn't offer, more specifically a switchback turn signal LED.

Apparently, the mod bug bit too hard.  Got "The Stubby" antenna from Craven Speed.  Can't comment on the radio reception, yet.
