Box advice for noob, please

Building a box for wife's 2010 Jeep Wrangler 4 door. Leaning more towards a sealed box, but I can be convinced otherwise! Prefer SQL, then SPL.

12" GCON dual 2 ohm running off channel 5&6 on Leviathan amp.

Size is not a big concern, but retaining the most possible usable space is warranted with the kids, their activities, and associated gear.

I can figure out the dimensionson a sealed box, but haven't played amounted with ported dimensions yet. Outside of the build specs I have a couple of questions:

Should I poly fill, or not, and if so, how much?

I've read on the Jeep forums that down firing is preferred. Any special considerations going this route?

Should I resin the inside of the box, put sound deadened in it, or just leave it alone?

Should I double the face and flush mount, especially if down firing?

Any other thoughts or input?

Like I said, I'm not really asking for box building design or a how-to, rather asking about box building finishing touches and optiizations. Any help you can help a noob out with, will be appreciated, and considering it will make the wife happy, will be valued as if it were gold.

polly fill is used only when the encloser is too small for the recomendations of the manufature of the sub.... help IE, if the sub called for 2 cubes sealed.. but you only have a 1.5 cubes, some polly would help you...

Is this a soft top or might the top be off? If that's the case, you're probably better off with the extended response and higher output potential of a ported enclosure.

For the sealed enclosure route, you can if you want to try. It most certainly won't hurt anything. Try it, see how you like it, remove some listen again, see if you like it. Start around 1lb per square foot of enclosure volume.

Make sure you have a solid loading surface, make sure you leave sufficient clearance between the enclosure and floor.

None of the above. Obviously make sure you seal the seams, but beyond that use appropriate bracing and you'll be fine.

Should I double the face and flush mount, especially if down firing?

Probably not a bad idea.
